Jesus said you would be able to tell his true followers by the love they have amongst themselves.
As one of Jehovah's Witnesses, those of us who take our Faith seriously, do not kill, do not steal another mate, do not molest our children, we cause no harm to anyone. We do our best to educate people so they too can come to know what God requires of them so that they too can have a good relationship with Jehovah and with the rest of mankind.
My youngest was baptized this summer as one of Jehovah's Witnesses.
She came to town and spent some time with her sister who is not one of us. She was amazed at how far she has come to improving the quality of life she and her family now enjoy. Her 7 year old daughter and I are very proud of her and both will reap even more blessings from Jehovah in the near future should she continue on a course of faithfulness.

It is Satan's giant shell game. Find the ball of true religion under the cup and suddenly add in 10,000 cups all moving about. Now choose the right cup for a dollar.

We tell the right one mainly by shutting up and listening. It is not our view we should listen to. It is God's opinion we should seek. He is the life giver. He is the one with power. It is He who decides what is acceptable to Him.

So the best way to find the true religion is to examine what the Bible's view is compared to each religion.

For example, Eccles 9:5, 10 and Psalms 146:4 talk about the condition of the dead. That they have no memories, feelings, work, or any knowledge. So any religion claiming the dead are tortured or come back as ghosts must be wrong. Cross any of these off your list and go on.

Just to add (my two cents) to the comments of ‘Here I Am’ and ‘misplacedmother’, another way (Love being the defining quality, as the Bible says) to tell ‘what religion is right with god’, is anytime you see a religion that does just one thing contradictory to the teachings of the Bible, you wont have to look into that religion anymore or wonder whether or not they’re ‘right with God’.

For example, you might ask yourself, “Does this religion not only agree with but support war? Does this religion accept homosexuality or other practices that they themselves know to be wrong yet condone it just to be accepted by and get more members? Does this religion Celebrate holidays that go against Bible teachings? Do they show love amongst themselves and others?”

Those are just a few questions you might ask yourself (there are many more sifting questions you could ask to determine the true religion) and if the religion that you’re questioning has or practices just one thing that goes against Gods Word the Bible, then they’re (obviously) not ‘right with God’.

There are many religions because after the apostles all died the congregations of Christianity at the time became infiltrated with apostates. Those who wanted to cause divisions and sects in the congregations and "carry off followers after themselves" - this eventually, through the centuries led to the many different factions of Christianity you see today.

How do we know which is right?

Study of the Bible.

Somethings to consider are these:

Jesus said that LOVE would identify his true followers. (John 13:35)

It was foretold that followers of Christ would be proclaiming the good news of the Kingdom "in all the inhabited Earth for a witness to all the nations and then the end will come". (Matt 24:14)

Christians are to be "no part of the world". (John 18:36) This would mean remaining free from worldly political involvements and from nationalism.

The focus of Christians is to be on the Kingdom of God. (Matt 6: 33)

Examine any religion by these criteria (just to name a few) and see who measures up.

It should follow the teachings of his son Jesus Christ, neither deviating to the left or the right, but in total accord, and should show love for God and mankind. It should produce citizens that are a model for the world to follow regarding integrity, honesty and righteousness. The many religions today are a fulfillment of prophesy as spoken of by Jesus and the apostles. Therefore we should be examining the Scriptures daily to see if what we are being taught is true.

Jesus said: “Every good tree produces fine fruit, but every rotten tree produces worthless fruit . . . Really, then, by their fruits you will recognize those men.” In other words, if a religion is from God, it will produce good; but if a religion is from Satan, it will produce bad.—Matthew 7:15-20.

True religion produces people who have love among themselves and show love to others. This is because Jehovah himself is a loving God. Jesus said: “By this all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love among yourselves.” How do religions measure up to this standard for true worship?—John 13:35; Luke 10:27; 1 John 4:8.

True religion changes warlike people into lovers of peace. This was foretold in these words: “They will have to beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning shears. Nation will not lift up sword against nation, neither will they learn war anymore.” (Isaiah 2:4) Instead of spewing out words of hatred, those who practice true worship comply with the command: “You must love your neighbor as yourself.”—Matthew 22:39.

It's not about theology. It's about a relationship with Jesus Christ. Start there, and move forward. If people are all about themselves, they are not right with God. If two people have that relationship, yet believe differently from each other on 100 different subjects, you would never know it by looking at them. They will still be best of friends.

Hard question, lets just say that all religions has bits of truth, as long as they teach about God and Jesus and the Bible and live Christian lives they wont be "against" God but if they don't have it all they wont be perfect before His eyes, only those who have a prophet and apostles, who are baptized in the way Jesus taugth (to be born of water) and recive the Holy Ghost when the elders put their hands on them, only those who recive the authority of the priesthood, the same priesthood that Jesus had, only those are walking perfectly before His eyes, now guess who they are.

Some religions are too religious, I think religious activities are for people to see, but God knows what is in your heart.
