For the 2nd time, they drove over my lawn and left huge tire marks. They did it in the middle of the night, and I had just seeded and fertilized it and it was looking nice. Now it has 8 1/2 inch by 6 foot tire treads in the middle of the lawn. I've filed a report with the police for both incidents, but there is nothing they can do without proof. What should I do?

Set out boards with nails sticking up.
Put a garbage can to block where they'd drive thru, and if they do, flat tire.

Measure the width from tire mark to tire mark and along your property border where you are having the issues, shorten up the measurement so they can't squeeze through, then put the boulders that you will purchase at home depot( or a landscape store) at these intervals.....The only other solution is, and I don't know if the police will do this, if a picture was taken of those tire marks on your lawn, and then brought over to the neighbor's house to compare to the vehicles or tractor tire marks to see if they match..

Go to your hardware store and purchase 6" or 8" spikes. Plant them in your yard, point up. Make sure you put enough spikes that should they drive over your yard, they will have flat tires.
After they have learned their lesson, be sure to remove the spikes before you mow the grass.
I had a friend who had a similar problem. He had a corner lot and every winter the snow plow would rip the grass from the front of his yard. He purchase a solid re-bar about 3" in diameter. We drove it into his yard, leaving about 1' above the ground.
It ripped the plow from the snow plow truck. After that he never had a problem with the snow plow ripping up his grass.

take photographs of the tire tracks, and photographs of their tire treads, match the two... ask a detective from the police dept. to help you matching the two... then, if there is a match.. sue your neighbors in civil court for the cost of the repairs to your lawn... all you have to provide is reasonable evidence.. if you can match the tires to the damage... they have to prove that they didn't do it.. (if you can catch them on film, in the act.. even better...

Put up a video camera and catch them in action, when you do turn it in to police then sue them. Or you could smear poop all over the outside of their house in the middle of the night while they are sleeping.

Get some good sized rocks and line them on the edge of your lawn . If you get nice looking rocks they will add to your landscaping.

loving tompink's answer. either try to catch them red-handed, or get them back for it in a simple, seemingly-innocent way!
