Matthew 18:20 "... Where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them."
Yes it was Jesus who said it.
I don't know if it proves his omnipresence though.
I told my parents I would be with them at Christmas in spirit (since I can not make it down this year).
I do not believe that I am omnipresent or God.
I was speaking metaphorically.

Yes, Jesus spoke these words. There are a couple of reasons why:

1) Jewish practice at the time was to have at least 10 families practicing Judaism faithfully in order to establish a synagogue. Now, Jesus says He is there when there are only two or three disciples! There was (still is?) a lady named Michelle Guinness (sp?) who wrote about this in an article for the old Moody Monthly magazine many years ago. She was born into a Jewish family but found Jesus to be her savior.

2) This Scripture is in the context of two or three believers praying to the Heavenly Father--two or three in verse 19, two or three in verse 20. Yes, Jesus is God, the Son of God, and has that ability to be omnipresent or everywhere at once. Remember, He couldn't do that while He was here on earth, He was limited to only one place at a time physically. Now that He has risen from the dead and has a new body, He doesn't have that limit. He can be here with me as I type this and He can be there with you as you read this--at the same time!

Matthew 18:20.

That's kind of an abstruse inferrance from the verse, but it works. The point is more about the concept of the Body of Christ.

Might I suggest googling 'concordance'? There are several good ones available on line in case you need to find another verse.

Jesus is the one speaking these words:

Matthew 18:19

"I also tell you this: If two of you agree here on earth concerning anything you ask, my Father in heaven will do it for you.

Matthew 18:20

For where two or three gather together as my followers (In Greek it means gather together in my name), I am there among them."

The others have given you the verse. Good catch there though. I hadn't thought of it that way before but you are indeed right.
