Yes, once. I decided I wanted to paint my office a nice shade of green. This is my office, with a door on it, in an office building of about 3,000 people. I said, "what are they going to do, fire me?".

So, I set about preparing to paint my office. Over the course of a week, I snuck in drop cloths, paint trays, rollers, brushes, etc. I taped everything off a few days before painting. Then I moved all the furniture into the center of the office the day before.

I chose to do the painting the Friday of Memorial day weekend, knowing that the office would be mostly empty, that anyone there would be leaving early, and that there would be three full days for the smell of the paint to dissipate.

Before starting to paint, I brought food in for lunch and dinner. I also changed from business casual clothes into sweat pants and shirt.

I locked my office door and started the first coat around noon. I finished the first coat after about 2 hours. However, since it had been years and years since the office was painted, the walls just soaked the paint right in and I realized a second coat was needed.

Since there was a risk of people still being in the office (2 pm on a Friday), and I was in my painting clothes and I did not want the smell of the paint wafting out into the hallway, I was forced to sit in my office and eat lunch and just wait for the paint to dry before I could start the second coat. So, yes, I did watch paint dry.

No, but i have thought about it and i had to make a choice, it was either log in to 'yahoo answers' and answer questions or 'watch paint dry'. Yahoo answers won this time, but it was close.
