milk is a natural soporific but oddly warm milk isn't. the soporific is destroyed with heating. The answer about a clear conscience was also exactly correct. And if you "count sheep", make sure you visualize them too. What kind of gate they're coming through, how fast each one walks, etc. The more details in your visualization, COUPLED WITH you're numbering them, uses different parts of your mind and makes you sleepy faster.

I sometimes take half of a Benadryl tablet (American antihistimine). Getting some exercise during the day helps me, and having a VERY dark room, like I do not like the little lights that many things now have just to indicate that they are "on." I usually work a crossword puzzle in bed for 10 - 20 min, then turn the lights out. If my spouse is cooperative other activities are helpful as well.

I have a bifta and a hot chocolate before i go to sleep. It does the trick after a hard days work, and a gorgeous home cooked meal! Have you tried any herbal tablets? Chinese places are the best for remedies. Are you worrying about anything? That could be a reason

I always have a small fan on. It's not that i like to be cold, but the hum always helps.

when I can't sleep, I go downstairs and get some water, or watch some t.v.

counting sometimes helps.

during the day get lots of exercise, it will help your body get ready for rest.

hope this helps :]

I drink some tea, and I watch some tv to. Also when I hafd a hard time getting to sleep some people told me to open my window so it's cool in my room, not to use my room too much, and to keep it fairly dark when I try to go to sleep.

i have an old story my father taught me a long time ago.he was a heavy gambler and juggled finances and relations and work and was stressed out all the time but he slept like a baby. i asked how he did it then he told me the troubles will still be there in the morning so why worry about them in your sleep .this is your time he told me to dream about the life you want . so find a nice ,warm, happy place in the paradise you have created and go to sleep...p.s horlicks also helps .you will wake up happy and smiling.all the best

Try leaving some relaxing music on while you go to sleep. One thing that always works for me is a cup of milk before bed. Milk acts as a natural sedative, so it helps you go to sleep.

Temazapam( start with a low dose)... works like a charm but it can make it hard to make it to the bathroom in the middle of the night. But you will wake up feeling great! My doctor once told me to try smoking a little bit of weed it will ease your nerves and you will be out like a light.
