Absolutely heard it and it definitely was not mine. I homeschool my three children and we were having a pretty hairy and frustrating day. I just had to take myself to my bedroom to calm down and pray through my frustrations and feelings of failure....in the calm of that storm a quiet voice came to me. He spoke to me and a calmness came over me that was overwhelming. He just simply reminded me that my children are His children and He is in control of the situation. It was very comforting to me and there was no mistaking that it was God speaking to me. I had never felt His presence that strong before.
Other times when I was not quite sure it was Him, I have had to lay out my Gideon's fleece to be sure.

In a word, yes! The more you pray, the better you will hear God and know its His voice. However, fellowship with other Christians (where you can talk about what God is telling you) is very valuable for validation, as well as insuring what you are hearing is aligned with God's Word, the Bible. If a voice tells you to do something dangerous or deadly (as a wild example) then you know this is not God talking to you because it breaks a commandment. For other things I have heard from God through prayer, I have asked my believing friends to give me feedback and even pray with me concerning what I heard to insure it's God and not just me. Hope this helps!

Yes, all the time. This happens when a person has a habit of over-analyzing something. Allow yourself to have some distractions. One day, the thought will be replaced by some other thought and you won't even know!

well I once had a really strong feeling and acted on it and it turned out to be true. Though the about next 5 times I had the strong feeling it turned out not to be true. So I came to the conclusion that strong feelings and reality are mainly connected by coincidence and now I don't really pay much attentions to strong feelings. I've learned that they are not particularly useful. There are way too many misses between the hits to be safe.

When praying you basically are talking to yourself.
Any voice that you hear in your head is only the product of your imagination.

Yeah, I was asking which day I should be baptized. And September 17th popped into my head...
Well, I wasn't baptized on that day because I got sick a few days before and was not feeling good...
And when it happened to me, it was like I could see the date...like I could read it in and it was everywhere...it was cool, but freaky.

No, never had this happen, but then, we Roman Catholics do not believe in such stuff.
Edit: Is interesting to me how evangelical Christians and extremist Muslims both claim to hear 'God' talking to them!

Sure. Quite often. I have to be careful, though, to determine that it's not just me responding to my own thoughts.
