There are onions that are milder than others. Seed catalogs used to offer a "cryless" onion. I never grew them but have noticed that they no longer seem to have this variety. I suspect they just did not have the flavor people wanted.

Some people don't have tears or any other effect from cutting them. HOWEVER, chill the onion in the freezer for about 2 minutes and you will have NO tears. Guaranteed!

I would love it if he could, just place the onion in the freezer for a few minutes before cutting it, it always works for me!!!

There are sweet onions are less strong then regular onions.
Sure, its possible. Red onions and shallots as well.

try soaking the onion in ice water for 10-15 minutes then slice quickly. it should help.

i hope not . it would take away the taste and the character of the onion . just cry and enjoy your onions.
