Then does this mean that God is...
A redneck, homosexual, Republican, Democrat, Liberal, Conservative, Atheist, Agnostic amputee? Or some combination thereof?

In the case of amputees, I can see how someone who might sin might then become an amputee, for example, God may not approve of a soldier driving their Humvee past a particular improvised explosive device, and thus wreaks vengeance upon them leading to loss of limb.
What about infants, however, such as thalidomide babies, who were born without arms, legs, or hands? Did they inherit such sin from their parents as to become themselves sinful in the womb?

Our spirit/soul is created in God's image. However our physical body is 'fearfully and wonderfully' made by Him. God is a rational being: he has an intellect and a will. We say that we are made in his image because we are also beings with a rational soul; we too have an intellect and a will. Each person in these respects is unique unto themselves ... as shown by your examples.
In answer to your infants question: "Now as Jesus passed by, He saw a man who was blind from birth. And His disciples asked Him, saying, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” Jesus answered, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed him” (John 9:1-3 NKJV)
You make a good point, Having a disease, becoming an amputee, being raped, or murdered, are not free will choices. But they are the result of others choices. Certainly, God is capable of destroying evil and suffering--but not without destroying human freedom, or a world in which free creatures can function. How do we as Christians respond to the problem of evil? With sorrow. With sadness. With revulsion. With perplexity. With questions that have no answers ... Each of us has had wrong thoughts, evil thoughts. Each of us has done something wrong — something evil. Why does God allow evil within us? None of us deserves to escape punishment, and yet God allows escape, too. If we ask why there is evil, we should also ask why there is mercy. Let us fight against evil and needless suffering, starting with ourselves.

God originally created man to never die.We are created in His image and likeness.
All these categories you have listed are simply the choices we make with the free will He has given us.
As for everything else, there are somethings that we won't truly know the answer to until we get to heaven.
I know this much,God is loving and His grace is re-newed every morning. However,we reap the harvest we've sown with sometimes very bad decisions. Keep in mind that God is also a God of judgement too !
Have you even read the Bible to make an assumption like this ?
Know the facts before you sound off.
Who are you to question your Creator ? It's a fearfull thing to be thrown into the hands of a living God.
Man can only kill the body. But God can destroy both body & soul.
You have no idea when you're last day on this earth will be. Our times are in His hands.
I would repent before it's too late.
This very night your soul could be required of you. Where would you spend eternity ?
You have complete control over this choice.
Forever is a long time to be wrong about your eternal destiny.
I've already made my reservation ahead of time. I'll be in first class, not coach.............

As many have already said here, God created man in His own image. Let me add this.... All other god's, man created because of his own love for his own sin. You see only Jehovah God is, He is God and there is no other. I am the LORD, and there is none else, Isaiah 45:5. Man will say that man created God because of man's fear of death. This is exactly wrong. Fearing God is good....... The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: Psalms 111:10 Man has made idols and worshipped the creation rather thatn the Creator. Any man who does not believe in God has no excuse..... For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. Romans 1:18-23 Lastly the Bible was written by men, but , and this is a big but, these men were inspired by God to write. Every single word in the Bible is absolute truth inspired by God. May He give you the wisdom to to understand his word. He that is of God heareth God’s words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.John 8:47

"Mankind" was created in God's image. In His capacity to love, with conscience to help us learn right from wrong. With His innate sense of justice and wisdom.
Individuals can stray from the image God wanted for us, though. This is due to free will. We also fail to perfectly represent what God wanted due to imperfection inherited from Adam.
Eventually we will get back to that perfect expression of what God had in mind.

"God's image is a spiritual image - generosity, kindness, patience, sacrifice, humility"
Holy crap, rkirby13, ... I didn't get that version of the Bible! Mine tells of a vengeful, spiteful, damning, sadistic, and impatient God.
But, yes, I think that is what it means. Even based on my version of the Bible... that is what it means. :)
By the way... The God who is depicted in The Bible was not human, therefore had no freegin' arms, legs, etc. That is not what was intended by that passage! sheesh!!!

God's image is a spiritual image - generosity, kindness, patience, sacrifice, humility - the stuff you mentioned isn't God's image necessarily - the good things are.

Correction: "created" is a "them" thing.
Mr/Mrs Adam are called "them": Gen 5.
Made of created/made is an "us" thing.
It's like a before/after shew of law/grace.
Law wrongfully convicts.
Grace is perfect: merciful.
So then we'll go with grace.
The GRACE of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.
