There really isn't any BEST commercial factory rifle cartridge maker. The industry is pretty much standardized when it comes to manufacuring techniques..The only variables are the powder, primer and bullet design from one brand to the next. What's BEST is determined by what brand shoots best out of your particular rifle..Nothing More...Nothing less.

NOTE* Never heard of Leopold ammunition.."Leupold" (Correct spelling)makes Scopes not ammunition..

JD is right, any of the modern ammunition makers offer a good quality product. I have no problem with any of them, but lean towards Hornady or winchester, but just out of personal preference. For accuracy loads for hunting or long range competitions, I always reload my own. Commercial companies use high volume automated machinery to load the ammo, and with anything mechanical, there is a certain amount of variance. Although, like I said, most modern manufacturers are very good, I can control the exact amount of powder, the depth of the primer etc, much better with my loading set up.

I personally disagree with JD because Hornady and Nosler produce handload quality ammunition that you cant get anywhere else. I handload and their cartridges perform very close to what i load myself. Some people can call it custom but it is still commercially available it just cost a little more but the results are worth it. I would encourage anyone to handload but if its not an option definitely use Hornady or Nosler.

depends on the rifle, buy a few different types in the same bullet grain and see what works best... best group at like 100 yds

i have a rem 700{.243} that likes Winchester super X ammo,(funny it won't shoot rem ammo worth a poop) and a Savage 10FCP {.308} that likes black hills match ammo, and loves my reloaded ammo

jd is right ,you have to get into hand loading to see any major difference .and with todays factory ammo .that gap is being narrowed.I dont buy remington ammo because ive had some bad experences with the bullet not expanding right .but thats just me they make fine ammoand ive never had a misfire. probly sell more than any other manufacture

Remington, Federal, Winchester, all make top notch ammo, for a variety of different purposes.

My preference is Hornady, but everyone has a different thought on what is best for them.

A lot of people like Leopold, but Federal is pretty good, too, Really depends on what caliber and load you're getting for what purpose.
