Try the story of the 3 Hebrew Boys who refused to bow down to the image made by Babylonian King Nebuchadnezzar and were thrown into the burning fiery furnace but survived because God sent an angel to them to rescue them.
The 3 boys are Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. They were contemporaries of the prophet Daniel.

One could be the healing of the man born blind (John chapter 9), another could be Jesus calling Matthew from the tax collector's desk. Still another could be a family preparing for Passover. Something I've never seen done might be Paul and Silas looking for their contact in Macedonia, and finding Lydia with the other women instead: a significant event in church history, but no drama or skits that I've seen from that passage.
One skit that I've seen ONCE was in a church with a balcony--they had a skit about the Apostle Paul being lowered over the walls of Damascus. They actually lowered him down, not in a basket, but on something like a wooden seat with ropes--16 feet down! That kid playing Paul was braver than me!!!!

I think trying to do a skit based on the Noah's Ark story is always a fun one. You could dress many of the kids as animals and you could play God who looses his temper with mankind because they are beyond his control. You could also do a skit about Lott's daughters getting the old man drunk and then having their way with him.

I love the story of Esther - well-known in Jewish circles, but not so much in Christian groups. The way that the story is celebrated in a Jewish synogogue is wonderful. I also love the story of Naomi and Ruth - family coming first above all else, even when the definition of family has to be stretched a little.

Dashes, that is exactly what I was going to suggest. The story of Job. It is a great story about how God screwed with a faithful man and his family just to prove a point to Satan. It's really sick and twisted.

How about the book of Job? The story of how God turned an otherwise righteous man over to the devil might be a good show.
