I want to buy a PS3 but i don't know which to get. I play Madden and NCAA 08 on ps2 so i would like it to be able to play those games. I really don't understand the difference in the 60gb and the 80gb besides more memory space. So far from what i see i want the 60gb but i can't find it. If i get the 80gb would that be an upgrade or down grade in gaming quality.

its simple buy a 60gb or an 80gb so you can still play the PS2 games

the 40gb does not have backwards compatibility meaning it wont play the PS1 or 2 games. it also does not have the compact flash, sd card reader, memory stick or memory stick duo, and they also removed 2 of the 4 usb ports from the front. i went with the 60gb its a little cheaper and i will never use all the space.

to boot the cost, there are little modifications. the eighty and 60 gig have 4 usb ports, the 40 gig in easy terms has 2. the 60 and eighty gig have 3 memory card slots, so you might use for the psp memory card, and a pair of others. yet a huge distinction is the PS2 gaming skill. the 60 gig can play all PS2 video games. The eighty gig can in easy terms play some, and the 40 gig won't be in a position to play any in any respect.

the 80 GIG and the 60 GIG only have a difference in emory capacity
however the 40 GIG has the same features as the 60 and 80 with out backwards compatability
so if you still want to play your PS2 versions of madden and nascar get 60 or 80 depending on how much media [vids music photos] you have

1). 20GB has no chrome trim, no memory card reader and no wi-fi. Not manufactured anymore. Has the best backwards compatibility with PS2 games due to Emotion Engine (PS2's CPU) and Graphics Synthesizer (PS2's GPU) installed.
2). NTSC 60GB has the same backwards compatibility as 20GB versio, also has memory card reader and wi-fi. Has a chrome trim.
3). 80GB - extended memory, but reduced backwards compatibility with PS2 games, it has only Graphics Synthesizer (PS2's GPU). Around 80% of PS2 games can be played. Available only in NTSC regions.
4). 40GB - can't play PS2 games at all (all PS2 chips were removed), has 2 USBs instead of 4, no memory card reader, has wi-fi. Avalable in black and white colors. White is on sale only in Japan.
5). PAL 60GB - reduced backwards compatibility with PS2 games. it has only Graphics Synthesizer (PS2's GPU). Around 80% of PS2 games can be played.

the 60gb has 100% backwards compatability(meaning it can play all ps1/ps2 games), if you can find one you usually can get some good deals for it and you can always upgrade the harddrive yourself
