It is a shame how americans are always concerned about their image and how they feel. Forget reality. It is no wonder that the Saudis and Chinese own this country.
The people of this country are a joke.

Women and girls are so obsessed about clothes and spending money. What is wrong with you American women... your country is sinking and you don't even realize it.

Why do these same people buy Abercrombie when you can get the exact same stuff at other stores for one tenth the price and probably better quality? Because it says Abercrombie. Why do people spend five bucks at starbucks for coffee when you can get it for less somewhere else? Because the little logo on the side of the cup tells others that they have money and can afford it. Besides most of the people that work at those kinds of places are little rich kids who drive to work in the car their parents bought them with the starbucks that they bought with the money they took out of mom's purse. None of it makes sense to me either, but in America, most people do whatever they can to impress other people no matter what. Hence, the Hummer. I hate Abercrombie!!

Some people don't like gas stations because it smells bad, etc. Also it kind of gives a bad image if you work in a gas station. Some people consider gas stations as a last resort thing, even if it does pay more money. Some people also want to appear "cool" and which is "cooler": gas or apparal?

Working for Abercrombie and Fitch sounds better. I personally, would work at neither unless I had to. So, I would chose to work at the gas station if times got that hard.

Fear of getting robbed that's the easy explanation. If your in ambercrombrie you still have a feeling of youthfulness the gas station is like the old trucker dude no one wanted to be it's all about the image. yes this is self absorbed but this is America.

We can't all work at the gas stations. Also, it's probably safer to work at Abercrombie than it is to work at a gas station. Money isn't always everything. Me? I could make more money if I worked at what I got my bachelor's degree in... but I'm loving my inventory job, right now. There are many people in the U.S. who have found that money is NOT the center of the universe.
**EDIT**
Apparently, you don't understand the nature of "work." People who work at Abercrombie, work there because they get paid... not because they are rich and want the clothes. If they were rich enough to afford the clothes, they wouldn't condescend to working there. Duh.

Well when you work for a store you usually get an employee discount, so that's a perk.
Besides, a gas station is dirty, you have to breathe in the fumes all day, it's uncomfortable because you have to work outside.
I wouldn't want to work at either though honestly.

American's don't like to get their hands dirty. Plus its all about image too... polo with gas station logo, not so impressive. Business or business casual makes you look important. I'm thinking any job with a nametag is a no-no. You can thumbs down me all you want, its all about image here.

You'd have to pay me about $100 grand a year to get me to consider working at Abercrombie.

i guess they like the department store image more than working at a gas station.
I'd pick Abercrombie over a gas station any day.

It is safer to work at the mall than in a gas station. Plus the whole discount on clothes thing.
