Actually only corporations are required to pay taxes..but don't tell that to the IRS's gestapo agents....(did you know that your taxes only go to pay off the national debt?)

what do you think? ever here of Al Capone or the phrase death and taxes? two things you can't avoid. And its not communism. You obviously don't understand what communism is. We pay taxes for a central gov't to run things so we can live as a society. unless you want to take over paving the roads, national security, infrastructure, public health, education, prisons, law enforcement, sanitation, etc etc. ? All things a modern civilized society needs. these things don't just naturally occur, despite what some people may think. You can't remember the case? That is because it doesn't exist. A little education. An amendment to the constitution IS the constitution. Once it is ratified, its just as valid as any other part of the constitution. The Supreme Court can't rule the constitution unconstitutional! The very fact it was ratified means it is part of the constitution. nice try though... Oh, now your argument has morphed into you don't want to pay for things you object to. So this wasn't really about taxes, but you objecting to paying for certain things. Sorry, but thats the way it works. We all pay for things that we may not like. A large chunk of federal taxes does go back to the states. Most states recieve HUGE amounts of federal money for everything from hospitals and education to jails and roads. You really don't seem to know what you are talking about, so please, quit while you are ahead or cut to the chase where you turn your question into a Bush rant or anti war cause....

Any resident of the United States and American citizens abroad must file an income tax return. If their income is high enough they must pay the federal income tax (and, depending on the state they live in, also a state income tax).
The fact that you are employed by a community college is irrelevant.

If the Dems and Republicans have their way, it will be anyone living, and actually taxing life itself... To pay for an inordinate amount of mischief and falsities it seems. Well I think the appropriate answer is anyone who has a tax Id number or social security number which utilizes the Federal Reserve System of credit and exchange and makes a return on said credit. Bottom line is most people who make above poverty are included, although after accumulating enough wealth, you become immune from paying taxes because of your access to people who know exactly how this whole system really works.
And yes, it probably affects you too...

Any US citizen or resident who has enough income to be required to file must file a return, and if they owe any taxes, must pay it.
If you are a student getting work-study at your campus, you are probably not required to pay into social security and medicare for the amount you make on campus. If you have another job off-campus, or if you work for a community or other college in something other than a student job, you would pay those.
Depending on how much you make total for the year, you might also owe income tax.

If you work you have to pay taxes. If you are told that you don't have to pay taxes pay them anyway and just get it back when it's time to file. It's better to go ahead and pay then for the IRS to tell you you owe them money. I would rather prepay than to be told I have to pay and not have the money to pay the IRS back.
