Can you still get Freeview at all with a set top aerial and box?

SKY are doing my head in seriously (mess up after mess up and they've now blocked our viewing) and I have to get rid of them. But we live in a fairly remote rural area and so can't get cable TV, NTL or anything like that - SKY is the only option. I just wondered whether if we bought a freeview box and set top aerial we'd be able to pick anything up (even though according to the website, our area isn't compatible with Freeview yet as it won't be going over to digital till 2010) . . .

No - but don't go by postcode searches cos they aren't always right. Its worth checking.

Even if your area isn't covered by freeview yet, you can, in some circumstances, get a booster fitted to enable you to pick it up. I dont mean juat an aerial booster you get for 20 quid in Homebase or Focus, you'll have to contact an aerial installation company for more details. It cost me about £90 a few years back.

That's *non* Freeview area... You can still get one. It just won't work.

I think you may have mis-read or mis-understood. You can probably already get Freeview. After 2010 (in your area) you'll ONLY be able to get Freeview. That's what they mean by "switchover".

If you have entered your postcode onto their website and it says no coverage, Im afraid you will have to stick with Sky for a bit longer or just have a basic analogue reception of channels 1 to 5
