it sounds like a hematoma.... which is basically blood under the skin formed into a bump. put ice on it and take a couple advils or asprin.... the asprin will actually thin the blood and the bump may go down faster.

It could be a swollen gland. We have them all over the place.
Its a good thing, it means your body is doing its thing.

Swollen Glands and Other Lumps Under the Skin - Topic Overview
Most swollen glands or lumps under the skin are not cause for concern. The glands (lymph nodes) on either side of the neck, under the jaw, or behind the ears commonly swell when you have a cold or sore throat.

More serious infections may cause the glands to enlarge and become very firm and tender. Glands can also swell and become tender after an injury, such as a cut or bite, or when a tumor or infection occurs in the mouth, head, or neck.

If you have a "bump" on your neck, you have to go see a doctor. It could turn out to be a cancer, and if you go early and it is cancer or some disease, then it can be easily treated, but if you go late and it's cancer, treatment and further prevention is much harder, and if it just turns out to be a bruise or bite, that's ok to. Better to be safe than sorry.
