For the first several hundred years of Christianity, a constant argument raged between different groups of Christians as to whether Jesus was God, a man, or both. 'Both' won out because that was the group chosen by Emperor Constantine to become the official faith of the Roman Empire.
There were even some early Christians who thought Jesus was a man but 'The Christ' was a spirit that had possessed him at the time of his baptism--sort of like demonic possession except it was -angelic- possession. And, reading that passage in the New Testament I can see how they could have gotten this idea. They believed that it was the spirit who allowed Jesus to heal the sick and raise the dead and to perform miracles. When Jesus was crucified, the spirit left him, because an angel can't die, or even feel pain. And that was why Jesus asked 'Why have you forsaken me?' (I have read that in the original Aramaic, the words mean more like: "Why have you left me behind?")
There were also 'docetists' who believed Jesus was really God, masquerading as a man.
It's always seemed reasonable to me to think that if Jesus didn't sin, he wasn't human! Simple as that! If he didn't feel and anger and envy and sloth, then he missed out on the whole experience of being human. And the same goes for -lust-.

The wonderful thing about Jesus is that though He took on human form, He still had the personality and nature of God. He never sinned. He was the only perfect human. If He had sinned, His sacrifice would not have worked for us, because only someone who had never sinned could be enough to die for everyone.
When sheep were sacificed to God by the Jews as a sin offering, the lamb had to be without blemish. The lamb had to be healthy without any illnesses or defects: it had to be a perfect lamb. These sacrifices were a reflection of the messiah to come. In the same way, Jesus, the Lamb of God, had to be perfect and never sin in order to be the sacrifice that would account for all sin.
Good question.

Speaking objectively, there is no way we can know the answer to that, unless Jesus Himself was to appear and tell us once and for all. And even if He did, we might have a hard time believing it was really Him. How would we know? This problem was recognized immediately by the Apostles, and if you dont know already, there are 2 different versions to the Gospel of Mark. One says they believed Him when He reappeared, one says they did not, and told Him they did not know if He was Satan or not. The original Gospel of Mark remains unfinished!
I guess we may never really know until we get to heaven...if in fact there is such a thing at all.

Jesus as a 100% God and 100% man. Not 50/50! He was not born from the seed of man and therefore does not have the sinful nature of man. The God part is way more powerful than the flesh that he carried.
He was tempted by Satan, not to see if he would sin, but rather to prove he could not, and that he was and is the perfect lamb of God.

Good question - The fact that Jesus led a PERFECTLY SINLESS life is the only reason that He was a worthy sacrifice. It's also the reason that He was able to resurrect. Once He died, the grave could not hold Him, because He had no sin. It's a little like an innocent man being sent to prison, then after a review of his case, they have to release him because they realized he was innocent.

Was Jesus human like us?
And how are sins forgiven?
The answer to both of these questions has been turned upside-down by the Popular Pauline gospel.
Jesus did NOT preach blood for sin. He preached the KINGDOM GOSPEL which was about the Light of Life.
This question could be answered simply by getting back to the Original Gospel Jesus preached rather than the popular gospel we hear these days.
A nice free resource on this subject is the first book on this website.

In my personal opinion I believe that Jesus never sinned. Because in order to die on the cross he had to be one hundred percet sin free. However I can not give you a factual statement, because in the bible it goes from day one of Jesus's life to age 32. And we do not know what happins between that time. And frankly that is somewhat confusing, because I would think that if anything the people who wrote the bible whould want to tell you about all of Jesus's life, not just his life as a teacher.

God became man and was crucified for our sake, not His own. Jesus died for our sins. He was like us in every way except sin.

Scripture tells us that he was tempted in all points like we were yet without sin.
Had he sinned, his work would have been of no effect as he would have had his own sins to pay for.

He never sinned, therefore never would have died a natural death, because "the wages sin pays is death," and therefore without death, there is no sin, and without sin there is no death. But Jesus was killed, which is to say he didn't 'die' as a normal human would, but he was killed by the Jews, however it isn't fit to blame them for his suffering, for he died as a sacrifice, for it is through one man, Adam we sin, so it be through one man, Jesus that we repent.
