Some do.
I have friends I talk to about humans' abilities to ponder beyond paying bills, driving in rush hour traffic, hating our jobs and getting drunk on Saturday night with our buds. We discuss our more intellectually evolved consciousness, how we have the capacity to think on a philosophical level and wrap our brains around sophisticated concepts of life and existence.
I always leave those conversations feeling .... enlighted.
Peace out.

One would certainly hope so, otherwise there is much ado about nothing regarding awakening, transcendence, enlightenment, leaping from the Wheel, etc. We are our own obstacles to overcome. At my best I am a human...being. That is, "being" the transcendent essence without ego identity. We speak of our true nature, our essential self, and this must be the greater nature to which you refer. The "human" part is form, a mere "outline" holding the essence which flows through us--the form is temporary, impermanent, while the essence is eternal, unchanging...our "greater nature" if put in human, understandable terms. However, can any of this conjecture be ultimately grokked by finite beings? Who is to say? Each one comes from a particular level and unique experience of what it is to be in a transcendent flux. What I know (and that is very little) is quite unlike what you know...both based on our individual experience. Too, we hear "reports" of many who have transcended, but, as has been said, the words are not the described. Though, greater nature is self-evident and needs no description. We "feel" it reverberate from deep within. I am Sirius

NO. They have an "authentic/essential" nature that is greater than their conditioned identity. This authentic being does NOT transcend their humanity, it IS their humanity, or is the interconnection with humanity through the shared non-material field we inhabit.
Reality is responsive to the contents of consciousness, controlled by the defining beliefs we were indoctrinated with as children. No matter how positive our self image from those early experiences, few of us were raised by sages. That self-concept is always a limitation of our true capacity because these beliefs control perception, thought, emotions and reactions. Transcending the learned ego identity synchronizes the external experience of reality with the internal unity - authentic being and purpose. Reality conforms to the Real you.

You have got to stop letting Liberals dump crap into your head. Humanity cannot be different that human behavior. At least not for us Existentialists. Humans are materialistic because EVERYTHING is made of material. The most lofty Spiritual compassion for the poor means nothing until you come up with MATERIAL aid. Morals that do not apply to material are meaningless. Should we punish those who Lie about how many Angels can dance on the head of a pin? We depend on money because it is an EFFICIENT way to exchange energy & resources. If you want to live in a cave, you don't need money. If you want to live in the 1600s you don't need fossil fuels. It all comes down to Darwin or Marx. Society makes sense if you understand that Group interest arises from self interest and the fittest survive. Whereas it's a continual disappointment if you think those with ability owe survival to those with needs.

Human beings are right now all that they are. Some of our nature is hidden from our own sight because we do not look at it. If we look deeply we can sense a greater nature that is beyond human but at this moment we express this greater nature through humanity. Do not seek your greater nature, simply breathe deep and relax into this moment and this will allow your greater nature (which is your connection with all that is) to shine through into this world.

~~~ Sol-man ,,, Take the Hindu Chakra System, correlate that to the medical symbol of The Caduceus,,, then compare, by studying their attributes, the Lower Chakras to the Higher Chakras and correlate the rise of Mankind's Consciousness from the Base Chakra to the Crown Chakra with the Intellectual Evolution of Mankind's Timeline. Quick Answer = Yes. We are currently in our Collective Development at the Heart Chakra, hence the teachings of jesus, buddha, krishna of Compassion & Humility, while also still developing our Intellect or Wisdom(higher chakras). Sometimes this is symbolized/referred to as "Kundalini Rising". As you will see(realize) in the relationships of the Symbolism of The Caduceus with the Dynamics of The Chakras and with Conscious Awareness(enlightenment), that our Spiritual Nature is our True Being(Higher Self) and our "Human" Nature is merely The Prerequisite to this Ultimate Goal. Example: In buddhism, one of the Primary Goals as a Prerequisite to Enlightenment is Ego Transcendance,,, for which "ego" is ALL about being Human. ~~ Namaste`
This question reminds me of people like Mother Theresa, yes Mohatma Gandhi, the Buddha, etc; but also reminds me that transcending humanity can go the other direction: Hitler, General Mao, Mousellini.
If one knows what is right some of the time in some situations then the greater nature is knowing what is right all of the time in all situations or having the ability to question it accurately by firing questions of light in the right direction so that they illuminate the truthful answer. The ability to do this is caused by focusing on pure love for all creation in heart.
Yes, but this is a tricky thing, for much depends on locality. We may fancy ourselves engaged in multi-local leaping into transcendence while in fact affixed to a unilocal state, which causes scattering and inner mis-alignment, which result in turn at best gives to an already confused world a few more turns on philosophy -- good or bad; or worst, madness.
Yes, but human beings are not the only ones with a greater nature. Indeed, all that we surrounds us takes part in this "greater nature" of which you speak. Human beings are barely even a blip on the map.
