I get a really sharp pain right in the centre of my chest, a little to the left. It lasts for about 5-10 minutes, and during that time I can hardly breathe or move more than a few millimetres because the pain becomes too intense for me (and I can usually deal with pain very well). It goes away almost as quickly as it starts up, and it isn't really affected by eating, laughing or leaning over my laptop for long times. It's happened about 3 times in the last 5 days, each time becoming increasingly painful. I'm 17, and I don't smoke. A friend has suggested chewing an aspirin, but I'm allergic to them. It definitely doesn't feel like heartburn.
People keep telling me to go to the doctors, but I've already been twice in the last month for unrelated things and I don't want to seem like a hypochondriac! What's up?

Speaking of only having it 3 times in the past 5 days, I've just had it for the second time tonight, and this time worse. I know this sounds stupid, but I have a major phobia of hospitals and ambulances, so A+E / ER isn't really an option.
There's no way I'm gonna get an appointment with the docs for at least a week. Any more ideas?

Hey!
The same thing happened today at work, but this time really bad. They got the ambulance in and I got taken to A+E, and they took it from there. Turns out I have something called pleurisy (more info at http://www.healthsquare.com/ndfiles/nd0405.htm).
I've now got medication for it, and despite my phobias it wasn't too bad :)
Thanks for all your support and suggestions, it's been great!
Have a nice day :)

Might be pulled muscle or pleuresy. I've had a near-fatal heart attack and a sharp pain is not common as a symptom. Best of luck. And don't worry about hypochondria, better safe than suffering...

Uh, yeah what I said!

Low iron makes middle paintings tougher considering that it demands extra blood to pump considering that there's much less oxygen within the blood. It can purpose bradycardia and if in case you have any coronary artery sickness it may well purpose angina or a pointy soreness on your chest. Since I do not understand how lengthy or extreme your anemia is I could endorse you name your MD. Good success to you & consider larger.

See a doctor immediately. It could be serious, even at your age. Pain is your body's way of telling you something is wrong. Don't ignore it, and don't worry about someone thinking you are a hypochondriac. It's better to be safe than sorry.

The cemetery is filled with people who did not want to look like a hypochondriac. Get to a doctor as fast as you can.
