I don't have any favorite books but I do have certain favorite scriptures, like James 1:17 and Jude 2.

What helps in starting studies is just to follow the training we receive at our Theocratic schools and Kingdom Service meetings, i.e. take out the Bible and start teaching.

Of course, a little more is involved than that, such as asking questions the householder is interested in, but generally speaking, a person can sense that you are there out of obedience to God and love of neighbor, why else participate in a door to door ministry where most people are outright apathetic and rude?

I love them all, but my personal favorite is Psalm. The books that I have found most effective in the preaching work are Mathew and 2 Timothy.

I love all the books of the Bible, but I would have to say Hebrews is one of my favorites......the book of faith. It's so encouraging to me to see what the ancients went through and how they put all of their trust in Jehovah because they knew His promises would be fulfilled.

An effective scripture for me in service has been Daniel 2:44.....most people at the doors find it interesting to know that all political governments as we know today will be done away with and only God's Kingdom will stand to times indefinite. Many have never heard that or read it before.

1. Matthew
2. John
3. Revelation.

I mainly use Book of Matthew when preaching. It talks about the last days and it really uses interesting parables.

my favourite book? i dont really know. i do like Psalms because i tend to qoute from it alot. i like the poetic feeling it has to it and it rings true to our day also.

with the second part of your question, i find that by introducing the bible as asource of direction rather that ourselves will help the student to see that we dont lean upon our own understanding. and to the use of examples from the bible and the highlighting of positive things regularly helps to put a positive shine on the news we declare.

also having a genuine personal interest in them will help them to realise that we do really want to help them and that God also looks at them as individuals which i think it is very important for them to understand. :)

Favorite book = Romans.
Why = for its theology.

I would start with reading the Bible without any JW teaching aids -- start with reading the gospel of Luke (life of Jesus), followed by Acts (formation of early church), followed by James (how to live as a Christian), followed by Romans (theology).

May God bless your Spiritual search.

Note: I am an evangelical Christian.

Cordially,
John
