My cousin has been in the hospital for almost a week now, and he has an infection in his heart. It has spread to his brain and other parts of his body. Today, the diagnosed him with the infection being MRSA. I babysitt his daughter during the day and I also have a 2 year old son. My question is do you think that we will get it? My cousin, and his daughter have a hole in their heart, so does that make him weaker or something?

If you reasonbly feel that you've been exposed, you and your son (and anyone else in your household) can be seen by your health care providers for an MRSA screening. Make the appointments.

Having existing certain cardiac conditions can make people more vulnerable to bacterial endocarditis.

you have to remeber that MRSA is carried on the skin in some health people (up to 1/3 of the population) and it causes no problems until that person is ill or has a cut to the skin which allows the infection in.
