What filters/processing method is all about? I have one image (.jpg and raw) and I want to obtain something similar.

Thanks!

Looks like after adjusting the color they used the Orton Effect, that is a sharp layer and a diffused layer blended.

It's just a regular shot that's been desaturated (although I see some tone in the background which may suggest not completely) and had a glow filter applied.

It's not that well composed and has blown-out highlights.

Also the wide depth of field is distracting. It was shot at f5.5 so opening up might have helped, although with the lens and focal length being used on the shooter's D40 it would not have been possible.

You could probably do the effects in Picasa. The rest comes from experience.

Hope this helps.

Firstly, it's a beautiful photo with nice effects and I can understand why you would like to do the same. I've never done anything like it before, but I've done "part" of the process many times. The colour effect is what they call a DuoTone. It is basically a black and white photo with the same photo (in sepia or brown) superimposed over it but slightly offset. Here is a tutorial, but there are dozens more:

Also do a search for duotone in Google IMAGES for many more examples.

The second part is some kind of Blur. Various graphics programs offer different kinds of blurs so I can't help you there.

Here's how I would attack it.

1. Make a copy of the image in Sepia or Brown.
2. Introduce some kind of blur
3. Play with brightness or transparancy to reduce the intensity of the photo

3. Super-impose the untouched B/W photo over the top and offset one pixel higher or lower and one pixel to the side (Right or Left) Different directions will give different results.

That should get you close and get you motivated. Good luck.

With these being the digital day's it is difficult to tell but to me, it looks like a straight shot, under available light, and the photographer dragged the shutter a bit to convey motion,or perhaps out of necessity.
If it's fake, that involves way too much photoshopin' for me. Must have taken better part of an hour or more to make it so convincing. I guess it was a good job done.

This person changed the picture to black and white, or some other kind of monochrome setting.

And then they used the DIFFUSE GLOW to allow that "dreamy glow" effect to be captured.

i think they are saying it wasn't done with filters and lense in the camera, it was done in the computer with one or more of a myriad of programs to do such things....
and i think they are right.
