I'd start looking at venues right away - it's not too soon, especially if you have a certain date and time in mind.

I got engaged almost a year ago, and didn't start planning and booking until a couple months ago. This did cause some problems because I had to have rush delivery for my dress which was like an extra $500. I would say 6 months is good for everything, but try to settle your reception and church asap! I am doing my whole planning in 3-4 months, and it has worked out best for me, because I can be excited all along! I have some great venues! Sometimes vendors and people don't take you seriously if you start too early, but look into options of colors/dresses and what you want! February is a good month because it is right before the RUSH, so a lot of places will be available well until 3 months prior.

Congrats and Good Luck!!

I am getting married August of 08 and have started some of the things I need to get taken care of. Things that need/can be done up to 1 year in advance is reservations. Taken from experience it is important to reserve where your wedding will take place, reception area, honeymoon stay. I did not reserve the place I wanted to in time and well now Im on the hunt agian. If there is somewhere particular you want your wedding reserve ASAP. My registry could wait a little longer to get done but I thought I would go ahead and do it to get 1 more thing out of the way and finished. I have my dress as well. It depends on how well you want to be organized persay. I dont wanna have to worry 2 months before about things so Im trying to go about it the easy way and having everything done and planned atleast 1-2 months ahead so I dont have all the " did I do this or that" stress on top of the "BIG DAY" stress. I hope the best for you and wish you the most luck. CONGRATS!!!

For reception and ceremony you should start looking now.
Give yourself some options by looking and asking questions. Most places like for you to book them a year or two before. As for everything else like invitations, photographer, etc.... you can do that eight months before. go to yahoo under the search and put wedding planning list. This list will start you from 6 to 12+ and will tell you each month what to do all the way down to weeks and day after the wedding. If you need any other help just email me. I am a wedding planner. I won't charge you for advise.

I was only engaged for 4 months and got everything taken care of in that amount of time. It was a pretty large wedding and it all turned out perfect! It is never too early to start looking around for someone to do your flower, cake, etc. Take care of booking a place for the wedding first. That is the biggest part of the wedding and can be the hardest thing to find. They get booked months in advance.

You should start no later than February '08. That way you will not be scrambling to get everything done at the last minute. It also depends on how many people you plan to have at your wedding and how big of a budget you have. The more people you have, the harder it will be to find a venue at the last minute. The sooner the better.

Congrats!!!!

Usually a couple starts a year before the wedding - depending upon the area in which you live, things may have to be booked a year in advance, like the minister/church, venue, caterer, band, etc. Most couples need that year to save their money too, so they can host the type of wedding and number of guests they want.

Congrats! I am getting married in June of 08 and I started buying things here and there about six months ago. I still have a lot to do, but it is easier to chip away at it one thing at a time (and cheaper!) We got engaged in January and I got my dress bought in June. I would get your dress asap so you can coordinate your veil, tiara/headband, and whatever you need with out all the last minute stress! Start planning now, if you can.

I've been plaining my wedding sense I was nine! I've had everything down to the napkin rings (a engraved set form the family) picked out for ten years! (but I might be a little loopy)

I even have the grooms tux picked out! And I don't even have a groom yet! Ha!

You should start planing soon, get everything ordered so your not running around when the day comes, over stressed.

Yea, I'm getting married in the Spring of '09

I have already started looking at places and it looks like the earlier the better...so book everything - photo, DJ, venue, church and what flower shop you will use(rates are usually cheaper if you do it ahead of time)
once you start getting closer to the date (7-10 months prior) you can do dress shopping, flowers, tux...etc and all the little details

good luck!
