My boyfriend and I have been dating for a little bit over a yr ( we are almost 18) My mother and father have been to his house a few times to hang out have tea with his parents and what not. Every time we have asked them to come to our house for lunch/dinner or just to simply come over they have made all kinds of excuses with us. I find it as a big insult. His parents are Indian and mine aren't they're Mixed. My father being Italian and Puerto Rican and my mother being from Trinidad and France. (just a little detail that may help answer this) Obviously there's a difference in culture and food. My parents love Indian food so when they eat at his house it's not a problem... they make excuses(b/fs parents) such as oh we're busy or too tired... Yet they have new neighbors down stairs from them that haven't been there a yr and they go to their house to eat all the time. What is their problem that they can't come eat or just come by us? Are they too good or are they being racist??? >.<

Hmm... it sounds like a food thing not a people thing. I know that a lot of people who are of Indian origin or decent don't like other types of food.
What I would is suggest meeting at an Indian restaurant for dinner and then afterwards telling your b/f's parents that you made dessert at your house and would love for them to come over for some. Let them know that it is an Indian dessert.
I would also ask your boyfriend about some Indian desserts before hand and maybe even asking him if he could help you with them. Start off with something simple. This way... you will find out for sure if it is a food thing or a people thing.
Good Luck.

It may be racism...but in particular with Indian people I've run into more of a food bias. I know one guy (at Google) who made it through Stanford and his work life without eating American food...or any food other than that made by his family or family of Indian friends.

Try asking them out to their favorite Indian restaurant instead and see how they react.

Talk to your boyfriend. Maybe he can give you a straighter answer. Maybe they dont like the kind of food they think you might serve. But, I really couldn't tell you since I dont know them. Ask your boyfriend why they never come to eat.

Glow Worm you should approach them and ask them point blank why they refuse to come to your folks place. After seeing their son for a year you should be comfortable enough to approach them. Inform them also how it makes you feel and hopefully they will be honest with you and tell you what their reasons are.

I think you should talk to your bf about it, stay calm and explain your concerns.
