Please avoid answers that say that pills don't work.. Yes, there are some bad ones out there, and yes I realize there is no miracle pill that makes you loose weight. I exercise regularly and eat well, I just need something to keep my energy level up.

Metabolism is essentially the speed at which our body's motor is running.
The speed at which our body burns calories is called the metabolic rate. It's how fast your "motor" is running when you're still in a reclined position or sleeping.
About 60-75% of energy is expended by the body at rest in such activities.
The metabolism is based on the number of calories we burn throughout the day. Our body constantly burns calories to keep us going whether we are eating, sleeping, cleaning etc. People with a lower percentage of body fat (i.e. muscular) have a higher metabolism than others that are less muscular because muscle uses more calories to maintain itself than
fat. Some people have a slower metabolic rate and have a harder time staying slim. Younger persons have higher (faster) metabolism because of the increased activity of cells. A slow metabolism actually causes to store fat. The slower the metabolic rate, the greater the weight gains.
How to build muscles to improve metabolism? What type of exercise is ideal that speed up metabolism so that you burn calories even at rest or sleep? There are simple exercises that speed up the metabolism.
Causes for Low Metabolism
* Fasting
* A low calorie diet
* Snacking throughout the day on high sugared foods (candy, colas, cakes, gum).
* Eating or drinking too much sugar containing foods.
* Lack of physical activity.
* Underactive thyroid.
Metabolism Boosters
There are some natural metabolism boosters (natural foods) that improves your metabolism. Do not take over the counter pills containing animal thyroid extract that claim to boost up metabolism. These products may have side effects as diarrhea, increased heart rate, excessive sweating, nervousness, tremors, bulging eyes, etc...
How to Improve (Speed up) Metabolism
* Do not skip any meals
* Exercise daily
* Build your muscles
* Avoid alcohol, sugar, and fastings
*Drink 8-10 glasses of water daily.
*Eat foods with high nutrition values

Exercise or no exercise you won't be able to lose the weight if you don't cut your food intake but we all know that's pretty hard, right? A good appetite suppressant can help you out big time but it has to be natural or you can get into serious heath problems.
I lost 38 lbs in 2 months by using garcinia cambogia extract (FDA approved 100% natural). In my first month 26 and then 12 the second month. I was an emotional eater and these supplements changed my life. They act like an appetite suppressant so I didn't feel like eating anymore. Not hungry anymore -> Lower calories -> Lose weight, simple as that. I did no exercises just 20 minutes walks 5 days a week.
It's been 4 months since I lost the weight and I did not gain any pounds back, actually I lost another 5 lbs (I stop taking them after I lost the weight). If you want to take a look here is a website where you can find discounts: http://www.garciniapromo.com I got them 30% off from here. Hope this helps!

I think you should talk to your doctor. If you're having weight or tired issues. You may have an underlying problem that can be adversely effected by taking over the counter medicines and vitamins. If you're deeply concerned, having a hard time loosing weight, or feel tired or fatigue ask your doctor to check you for Hypothyroidism, or hyperthyroidism. Also have him or her, check your insulin levels. Another thing that can effect your metabolism is insulin, such problems as Poly cystic ovarian syndrome. which can be hard to detect on someone so young. If you want to take pills to loose weight, or get more enegry. Just take a regular daily vitamin recommended by your doctor, and do morning stretches, take walks, or join a sports team. and eat 3 times a day. You will have your own natural energy that can make you feel great. I know it sounds. 'normal' but there's no magic pill that wont harm you in the long run. Doing things to cut corners with your health is not advised. Starting young on a healthy life style will have great benefits when you get older. Over the counter medicines can lead to kidney and liver problems. It can also lead to blood and bleeding problems.

The problem is that the FDA made ephedra come off the market, thus the Ripped Fuel, Hydroxycut, etc. had to be reformulated w/o ephedra. Now the pills contain high levels of caffeine primarily. Since they took ephedra off the market
I don't know if the new pill formulas do any good. I like a good sugar free Red Bull when I need extra energy though...

None of the over the counter pills are really good. They're all loaded with caffeine and none of the other ingredients really work.
The drug that actually increases your metabolism and work is Ephedrine which was recently banned in diet pills, but is still available in asthma pills.
I actually took those asthma pills for asthma. One of their names is BRONKAID. they contain 400mg guaftefsin and 25mg Ephedrine. It lowers my appetite and increases my metabolism.
Remember though that it was banned becasue people were taking too much of it and someone died from a heart attack.
