Office 2007 can open all documents created in older versions. If it doesn't open when you double click in it. Right click on the file and select "open with" and select the new version of the software.

Open Ms_Office 07 Word and select the document you want to open, that should do it
As an FYI, when you are saving the document, if you are planning to send the document to other people try to save it as office 97-03 format as they will not be able to open your 2007 Word format using any older versions.

Right click the document and choose "Open with" and select Word 2007. If it isn't in the list, browse for it. Then be sure that there is a check in the little box in front of "Always use.....". Click "Ok".

In Word click on Edit->Open, and find your document.
