This guy I know just got a job at Burlington coat factory. He say's he needs $15 to get his ID badge and walkie talkie and said they use to take it out of your paycheck but people weren't making it to their first paycheck so now you have to pay it up front. He doesn't keep this walkie talkie. Something about this just doesn't seem right and I don't want to hand out $15 dollars if this is a lie. Does this seem wired to anyone? Everyplace I worked you didn't have to pay anything for this type of stuff.

It really does seem like he is trying to borrow $15 from me. I'm all for people working no matter what the job is as long as it's legal but this sounds strange to me. I'm going to loan him the $15 and see what happens from there. Thanks for the comments

Lots of places require you to pay for pieces of uniforms. It doesn't seem that unusual. Maybe you should not be such a spaz, and let him work a job instead of being a bum.

If the turnover is really that high (that people dont stay long enough to the first payday) then it probably is a SCAM job

I found several links - one is the company website - which looks legit. The other websites are complaints websites about Burlington Coat Factory.

Probably the reason employees leave is because the rules are too strict or there are too many complaints.

Apparently the company has a very strict NO REFUND policy no matter if the product is defective or not.

This sounds like he's trying to borrow $15 from you, and is making up an excuse. Sounds strange.

They provided the terrorists with coats so they would stay warm while wreaking havoc on our country. After all, don't terrorists have rights in the United States?

this is kinda weird but some jobs require you to have certain work cards or materials to get started with them
