Not asking if you think he's 'our savior' or if you believe in god or agree with Christianity.

Just what ya generally think of him.

Decent enough guy. Bit of a rabble-rouser but as long as he kept me in fishes and loaves he'd make a good neighbor.
But I'm agnostic. I'd have to see it to believe it.

I don't believe in God or any of that other nonsense because it's not logical. I don't label myself an athiest, I believe in science. Jesus was a real person, I know that for sure but he's dead and gone forever. The crucifix of the Jews was a common thing back then. 10s of 1000s of them were crusified. The only difference between them and HIM were that he had followers who believed in him. These followers were brain washed by him. In other words, he was probably nuts like Charles Manson. I mean, would you believe me if I told you I was the son of God? I bet you would if you didn't know any better and if I told you enough times ---- or better yet, if you had the mind of a child. People are obviously easily brain washed. The bible is only real to an undiciplined mind. Magic is fake and so is most of the bible.
I went to church when I was 12-14. Do you have any idea how ridiculous some of their claims sound to an unprogrammed mind? I'd imagine you'd have to be blind to believe some of this stuff. One day, some guy speaking at this youth group said he went to the fridge and all the coke was gone but he was really thirsty. He was about to walk upstairs, then he told God he needed a Coke. He turned around, walked to the fridge and there it was, a fridge full of Coke. That's when I decided, these guys will tell you anything for a couple bucks and to keep you coming for more.
I'd love to teach more people about reality but it's not my job to reprogram them all. But I will mention one more thing. When you pray, you're talking to yourself. Yeah, it's healthy because it cleanses the mind. But way too many people believe that someone or something is actually listening, even though a prayer has never been answered ........ EVER. Then they just go on and ignore that fact, go to church, donate money they can't afford to give............

I can only speak for myself. Atheists don't agree on anything as a whole other than they do not have a belief in god.

That said, i believe that the Jesus of the Bible is a mythological character. There may or may not have been a historical Jesus that the gospels are based on. However, the Jesus described in the Bible is no more real than the Easter Bunny.

I am not a Christian nor do I believe in God.

I do, however believe that Jesus is a real historical figure.

If he spoke half of the words that he is given credit for then he was a very great, kind and wise man. I understand why he was so loved and remembered, even after two thousand years.

But a God or son of God he is not. For there is no God.

About the same I think of Harry Potter. Fictional characters aren't that interesting to dwell on.

To Jack of All Trades: Apparently you don't understand that most atheists in NO WAY believe in the fictional character Jesus. In reality most realize the actual person the fictional character was based off of probably did exist. There is not a lot of documentation saying that person existed so it is harder to prove.

I have no doubt a personage we currently called Jesus lived. He must have been an extraordinary rebel for his times. His legend and stories have survived 2000 years. In his time and place, he obviously had a huge impact on his society and the area where he lived.

He was certainly rebellious against the status quo. He was able to show many people a different way of doing business...especially those NOT in power. He was able to gather many people around him to protest and rebel against those in power. He caused so much trouble among the people that eventually he was arrested and executed.

I don't believe for one minute that he was divine-I don't believe in any of that nonsense. I don't believe for one minute any of the religious stories and nonsense surrounding him; son of god, messiah, virgin birth, resurrection, etc.

What I believe is he was a rabble rouser who really shook things up. Those who observed wrote what they saw - with a good bit of their own imagination thrown in...and, over time, with retranslation over and over, the original stories have become science fiction; part truth, part fantasy.

There are people in history who were so extraordinary and made such radical changes to the world around them that their lives and legends are completely familiar. Alexander the Great, Catherine of Russia, Atilla the Hun and others, for example. But none of them were divine either.

I don't think of him. He is a construct, a manifestation of other so-called saviors from times before him.

To JACK OF ALL TRADES:

How dare you even THINK that MOST atheists believe Jesus was a real person? Are you mental? Maybe there are atheists that believe him to have existed but don't assume MOST of us do and that to be an atheist one must believe in his existence. Your criticism is unfounded and based on idiocy.

I think that there may have been a person named Jesus who led some kind of religious movement, and was killed by the Romans. Later, miracles were attributed to him, and a hundred or so years later the gospel was written about him.

He was a loud-mouth trouble maker . He had a rotten temper ( kicking over the money-changer's tables ) . He irritated the Jews by claiming he was the messiah . And most of all , he broke Roman law by claiming to have powers greater than Tiherius himself . He was totally wrong - - - the Romans executed him. Score Rome 1 --- Jesus zero .

A little confused and inconsistent, but generally seemed to have good intentions. That said, we only have his press agent's word on what he did and said, so I'd take it all with a grain of salt. I'll leave out the nasty bits and be civil. Have a good day.
