Surely you're better off buying something cheaper - all you're going to get is a coke with hint of spirit.

To those people saying Jack isn't expensive, comparing it to other whiskeys available here in the UK, it certainly is expensive. A 70cl bottle will set you back £15. Obviously there are more expensive Malts whiskeys, but there's an awful lot more cheaper. Tescos will sell you an own brand whiskey for next to nothing, it'll taste just the same once it's doused in Coke. I think it's all down to the show of it myself.

I agree. I drink Gin and Tonic and I hate it when you ask for one in the pub and they put the whole bottle of tonic in without asking. Especially if they have the 200ml ones instead of the regular 100ml. Might aswell ask for a tonic on the rocks!!

I didn't know Jack was expensive. I'm not a big liquor fan so the only way I would drink it is by mixing it with coke or something. Then, it would taste much better. Jack and coke is a unique drink and I can't think of anything else to mix coke with. Maybe southern comfort? But isn't that the same price as Jack?

No, I can taste the difference between Jacks and other cheap whiskeys. When I'm out clubbing I get jack and diet coke if i can afford it, cos I don't like the other whiskeys they have (if they don't then i suck up vodka shots instead)
When I'm at home I get el cheapo bourbon and mix with value diet lemonade haha

It is not so much the expense as the taste that counts. To some people, coke enhances the taste of Jack Daniels.

Cause they cant handle 100 proof Wild Turkey straight. Take a double shot of Wild Turkey straight and see why we call it the "Kick'n Chick'n".
Now I will say mixing Dr.Pepper and Hot Damn or Aftershock is good for those nights when you have a sore throat or dont really want to get drunk that fast. Makes a dandy cough syrup :-P

Jack Daniels isnt an expensive spirit, some people dont like to drink it straight.... I prefer most alcohol with a mixer of some sort.

That's a good question. I always thought of it as social status to order a 'Jack and Coke'. Personally I like to taste my spirits.

Gentleman Jack really isn't high quality stuff. Plus, it tastes better with Coke.

This astounds me - I know people who do the same thing to good scotch. The bottles should come with a warning -that mixing with soft drink will destroy the taste and is not advisable.
