The term F-stop refers to the size of the aperture. The Aperture is the part of the lens that allows more or less light into the camera to expose the film or sensor.

The choices you want to consider when choosing an F-stop are depth of field, (which means how much of the scene you can keep in focus) and the exposure (how much light you need to get a good result)

The smaller the f-number the more the aperture will open allowing more light into the camera and reducing depth of field. Conversely a large f-number will allow less light into the camera and give you a greater depth of field.

It seems from your question you prefer a greater depth of field so you would want to go with the larger f-stops, given you adjust shutter speed and ISO accordingly to get a good exposure.

The "most focus" would be f/22, which is considered the high f-stop on your lens. It's the smallest opening, but the "highest" f-stop.

What i'm able to assist you to realize for confident approximately photographs is that there is in no way a loose lunch. once you shoot huge open to enable in extra mild, you may desire to grant something up. What you provide up is intensity of container. the section that is in concentration turns into razor skinny the extra you open up. So while some dope tells you to shoot at f5 or something, particular which could restoration your concentration project, yet what in the experience that your shutter velocity is now 2 seconds? are you able to hand carry completely stable for that long? Is your subject going to stay completely nonetheless for that long? I doubt it. Time to sweep up on your photographs understanding, that is far too lots information to place up right here. solid success.

fhotoace means open up the lens, not stop down (lower f-number) and the maximum depth of field is at f22 regardless of sharpness.

What fhotoace is trying to say is correct, that even though depth of field is maximum at f22 it may be more unsharp and therefore not worthwhile using.
