Because this is what people have been told all of their lives....and foolishly accept as fact. Because they are too lazy to examine the scriptures for themselves and find out what it says about life in heaven and on the earth.
You are right. Psalms 37:9-11 speaks us the righteous inheriting the earth after the wicked has been removed. Actually, the earth was created to be inhabited by man..psalms 115:16..hence the garden of eden.......God's purpose has never changed on that.
To answer Todd P's question on where in the Bible it talks about those who will rule with Christ.......Todd, check out Revelation 14:1 and continue on reading that chapter.

It is true that not just believing in God and doing good will get you into Heaven, as it says in the bible, man cannot get into Heaven on good works alone!
Only those that give their lives to the Lord, accepting Jesus as their Lord and Saviour, are sorry for their sins, and turn away from their sins, are going to Heaven!
People who haven't read the bible, or have been mistaught the scriptures, are the ones that believe we are all going to Heaven!
I hope this helps!

Those are two different sets of circumstances. We will go to heaven after we die. If I am not mistaken after Jesus returns the resurrected bodies of those who suffered during the tribulation period will rule and reign with Christ 1,000 years. All other believers will be in heaven. Later on after the judgment for all believers God will create a new heaven and a new earth when that will happen.
That is just my understanding of it.

Well, I think that's because everyone who do good automatically thinks that heaven is for good people- which is true, but that's only a part of it. Heaven is for 'children of God'. The people that believed and confessed that he's Lord and saviour, , that he died for our sins and that he resurrected 3 days later and that he's seated on the right hand of God, Making intercession for us. The people that lived for God while they were on earth, are the people that'll live in his kingdom.

It's because many people have their own concept of God, meaning the god they believe in is the kind of god they want and not the God who is, so they get to make their god to be and do what they would want. They also have their own standard of what is good and who is good, therefore, they of course have met the requirements because they made the requirements.

my answer will be in John 14:2-3...Jesus said that he will go to heaven to prepare a place for us..........but when time will come God will make a new heaven and earth for us to live on Rev.21 and 22 whole chapter.....some will go to heaven to rule the earth? REv.21:3 GOD dwelling is with man and he will live with them....God himself will be with them and he be thier God.....the ruler of everything is God.....if we read this two chapter Jesus clearly said that he will make a new heaven and earth for us to live on and God himself live with us..and he said that those who remain faithful to him will be his son and he will be his father..Rev.21:7..so in my understanding heaven and earth will not be separeted....

For the uninitiated (in spiritual matters), it is good to believe that there is something better to hope for.
