Orthostatic dizziness is a condition where your blood pressure drops suddenly when you sit up or stand up, causing you to become very light-headed or even pass out. The headache is caused by blood pressure returning to normal again.
Diagnosis is actually made by dr checking your blood pressure while you are sitting, having you stand and walk a few feet and checking your blood pressure again. If dr gets consistent readings that indicate a drop in blood pressure when you stand, they use this info when making a diagnosis. In severe cases, doctors prescribe a specific type of pantyhose that are designed to keep blood from pooling in your legs upon rising; I never went that route, so I don't know if they really help.
The best treatment I have found is to rise slowly, and to grab onto something when I do get dizzy.
Best of luck to you (-:

I used to do this too, sometimes it just because you stand up to fast when you have been sitting for a long time, try getting up slowly to maintain your balance and it should help. My blackouts were from lack of nutrition. Make sure you are getting all your daily vitamins and nutrients to ensure you are healthy. Your best bet is to still call a doctor for an appointment, you could have something more serious going on. Good luck!

Honestly, no one here knows. Don't listen to any of them and consult a doctor. They will probably refer you to a neurologist. Blacking out is not something you want to just let go and it's deffinitly something you want to get checked out asap. If you are on any medications be sure to tell your doctor as blacking out can be a serious side effect.

This is caused by a slight malfunction of the hydrostatic blood pressure not compensating for your getting up. Perhaps is trying to tell you that you need to have it checked out and see why it is occurring.
