I'm just wondering. It might be a stupid question, but I'm curious. Right now I'm trying to live a so-called "spiritual" life. I'm trying to learn as much as I can about it by reading spiritual books and googling it on the internet. I think it would be so nice to attain inner peace & true happiness. I learned about how the Buddha and other spiritual gurus attained enlightenment and just can't help wanting it also. How many of you feel the same way?

Enlightenment is a path, not a destination. Inherently it is a condition that exists in all beings and things in the universe. We just need to realize that we already posses it. Enlightenment is not magic; don't expect that once reveled you will be able to conduct the fantastic. In many ways you are all ready fantastic. The ordinary and fantastic are one in the same; only your perception makes them ether, or.

Be sure what you are seeking isn't an ecstatic state; ecstasy is great, but can be a distraction from enlightenment, and can even have the reverse effect.

The first hurdle is to outline what is supposed via enlightenment. Various religions feel they've the direction but they disagree with every different. They can't all be correct and, honestly, there is not any rationale that ANY of them must be correct. Maybe they have got all ignored the factor. There are individuals who advise enlightenment is approximately reaching a designated degree of collective attention by way of schooling however then we ought to keep in mind what scope of 'schooling' could be correct for each the rapid-paced global of trade and the nomadic lifetime of a goat herder. There looks to be little average floor nor the will for it past designated elementary values. In my opinion, the ones values are the center respects and dignities we have enough money to one another with a view to maintain our peaceable cohabitation of this planet. They are the center values that predate and underpin so much religions. They are the ethical framework that shapes our authorized methods. If residing in combination is appreciate and dignity is what we imply via enlightenment then I suspect it'll stay an aspiration for lots of alternatively than a fact for all. Even a few of the supposedly knowledgeable and culturally mindful, one best has to learn one of the most posts to Yahoo Answers to peer how a ways clear of that ultimate we're. I see no proof that we're relocating within the correct course.

Through prayer and meditation I have found myself in a state of overwhelming joy and peace......sometimes during this state I have found answers to certain questions. I dont know if this is enlightment but it sure feels good.

I do believe that there is no easy way to achieve this, you do need discipline and you do need to practice regular.

Perhaps now is the time to put away all your books and just try meditating, or prayer see how you feel. Your journey is very personal and no matter what you read or information you digest you are the one who has to experience it for yourself.

If I can be of any help to you then e.mail me....glad to help....
Enjoy your meditation.......Angel Lady xx

The word is simply a pseudo-philosophical piece of religious jargon that people use to impress the naive.

Typically it means that someone believes just as the person using it believes. Example: "You believe like me so you're enlightened but that person believes something else and that's because they're not enlightened".

There have been a number of times in my life when I thought I had a brief enlightenment. I'm hoping that some day soon, I can have one that lasts more than a few seconds.

I think everyone wants it in some shape or form. It takes years of discipline just to be able to meditate for more than a few minutes. I'm guessing you're familiar with the Buddha's Four Noble Truths? It's the best place to start.

Enlightenment is yours for the taking. Christ's Spirit of Truth is poured out among mankind and the Holy Spirit, along with your Thought Adjuster (God's divine light within) will reveal all things unto you. Pray about it and be willing to listen to the "divine voice" within.

Of course; though I'd hesitate to ask who wouldn't. ^.^

It's the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel; definitely a goal for a lot of people. But one must always remember to stay firmly rooted in the physical so as to not unbalance the chakras. ;P
