Was the name considered ordinary (not bad) before becoming synonymous with Satan?

The name means, in Latin, "Bearer of Light". Beautiful. Now that you ask, I think I would consider it. Nicholas Lucifer. Not bad...

Edit: Maybe I'm being a bit dim today, but I don't see the issue with Theresa Green OR Sean Lamb. I, however, knew a Sandra Miami Coast (sandy miami coast), and a Jet Josie Justice (last name here).

Mind you, I've met a Theresa Green and a Sean Lamb.
Some parents are not alert, or are just cruel.
