This cat breeder KNEW that I was finally ready to move on from the loss of my 19 year old cat who I had to put to sleep due to bone cancer about 3 years ago. I was ready to move on and wanted an exotic. I had spoken to her and wanted a really frisky one, but told her that my cat that i had before was really loving. She said "Well I have just the cat for you. One of them is really loving and I think would be a better fit for you to fill the void." So I agreed. She brought the cat to my house. I had to have him, but was nervous about paying the steep $1,200 for a cat! She then threw in his sister for free because his sister had a weird flap of skin, walked really weird and didnt have the right markings. I then of course went for it. Found out the male, the one I paid for is only 8 months old and has serious problems - hear murmur, can hardly walk because of leg problems.... This is re-curring in her past litters. How do I shut her down since she doesn't know what she's doing?

WHen I tried talking to her about the problems, she admitted to this happening in past litters. My male is now on his death bed due to unknown health problems and he's only 8 months old!!! and currently on IVs. When I tried talking to the breeder she brought up that she had just been diagnosed with cancer. I know she does have cancer, but why would you tell your clients this besides to make them feel bad and to back off. My kitten may be dying now and I'm frustrated. I just got over my other cat and wanted to move on. I didn't want an exotic so I can see a cat that's always in pain and so I could be in pain as well!!!

Hi there...if she is TICA registered cattery I would submit a complaint of concern to them. They do not want unethical breeders failing to meet the TICA standards of proper breeding. Here's the direct link to contact TICA: http://tica.org/html/english/contact/whom.php
Hybrid cats are more prone to heart murmurs known as Hypercardiomyopathy (HCM) therefore breeders should be working with veterinarians closely to have their breeder cats checked to ensure the litters born will not inherit this or anyother feline disorders as well.
Furthermore, she should have a business licence to breed and sell hybrid cats. If she does not, then consider contacting the state as they will come to investigate as well.

1. all breeders have issues. just look at their name to see that. breeder. they are constantly cross breeding and inter breeding. in turn, creating sick off spring. but a common known item.
2. Savannah's are not natural as they are sold. they have been breed with house cats, etc. you have played God in away yet expect the animal to come out perfect. Not gonna happen.
3. there are some 40 million cats that need homes in this country. you then spend enough to care for 40 cats on 1 cat that is not natural. and you wonder why you got what you got?
4. not being mean, just being a reality shaker for you. being a good pet owner and take care of or put down what you have. and next time... save one, it will love you more than you could ever buy one to love you.
5. I know this route.... see... I wanted an ocelot. So I know how they and Savannah's, etc are bred, kept, etc.
6. Not really a way you can shut her down. But you can put complaints on her everywhere you can find. Web, BBB, etc. Just warning others and teaching others will prevent her from selling more, in turn shutting her down and preventing more worthless deaths.

You paid $1,200 for a cat.
I still can't get over that. You paid $1,200 for a cat. For a cat.
You want her shut down because she "doesn't know what she's doing". She knows EXACTLY what she's doing. She is a con-artist and her job is to dupe people like you who are willing to pay big money for a pet unseen. Call the police in your area or the local prosecuting attorney's office and report her actions.
$1,200 !!! I still can't get over it!
How many bags of cat food could you have provided to an animal shelter with that $1,200? (And taken home a healthy cat to boot?)
Why didn't you research the parents of the kitten you were adopting? Why didn't you at least ask to look at the mother and father, let alone ask about them?
There is an old saying that goes, "A fool and his money are soon parted". You've proven that today.

If nothing else, small claims court. In the US, go to the county courthouse and ask the clerk(s) for help. With any luck, you spend a few hours in a courtroom (mostly listening to *other* interesting cases, until your turn comes) and the defendent pays the settlement *plus* court costs (about $100)

I don't care if she has cancer or not. SHUT HER DOWN. How many other animals will be born, just to suffer because of her bad breeding. The suffering of the animal is bad enough, but do we need the pain and expense. I think not. Call the ASPCA and the district attorney's office and whoever else you can think of.

Call a vetinarian's office. They should be able to give you some numbers to report bad breeders. Or call the SPCA. They should know where to refer you. And next time, get a perfectly normal and healthy pet from an animal shelter. It will be alot cheaper too.

Last u can always take her to court for give her lots of bad press. No one likes bad press if they are trying to make money.
