what kind of dog is she? usually they will just throw up! but if she is like a chihuahua a pom or a yorkie take her to the vet. a little shouldn't harm her. if its dark chocolate she could die but otherwise she should be fine

Actual death by chocolate is pretty rare and it is more often caused by the very dark baker's chocolate. Your dog had milk chocolate diluted by milk so he will probably be fine.

Chocolate toxicity depends on the darkness of the chocolate, milk chocolate is the least concentrated and the most common type of chocolate, and the size of your dog. You can read the back of the package and estimate the amount your dog actually ingested.

For milk chocolate, the rule of thumb is 1 ounce per 1 pound of your dog's weight. Baker's chocolate is approximately 10 times more concentrated and would require about 1/10th the quantity.

Your dog may get diarrhea from the milk and may get sick so you should watch out for unusual behaviors and symptoms.

You should call your vet, check for open hours and then make sure you know how to get to an emergency clinic just in case.

It's not a big deal. Hot chocolate is mostly milk, and even Hershey's dark chocolate is processed. I know dogs that drink hot chocolate and there was one little dog that ate a choclolate cake. Don't worry, she should be fine! The worst that happened was that she might beg for your hot chocolate the next time you have it around her!

First of all, don't panic... chances are that with the milk the total amount of chocolate consumed is small but could be significant. Unfortunately, it's been some time since she consumed it, so inducing vomiting probably wouldn't do much good at this point. (If she does it again, be ready to induce vomiting... ask your vet in advance how to do it.)

The "bad stuff" in chocolate is a stimulant called theobromine. White chocolate is the least toxic with 1mg of theobromine/oz. Topping the top of the chart is baking chocolate with more than 400mg/oz!

How much is a lethal dose? Just as in human poisionng, it depends on body weight, health, etc., so there are no absolutely exact answers. For one of the best articles on theobromine poisoning, see the link below. Not that onset of symptoms is about an hour.

Irregardless of how much your dog has ingested, call your vet ASAP for advice!

Good luck!

A while ago I looked up how much chocolate it would take to kill a dog. Well I doubt that even a human would consume as much as the site said it would take to harm the dog.
I wouldn`t worry, about the most that will happen is a little bit diarrhea and even that is a stretch.

My tiny toy poodle ate an entire hershey's kiss, and not the little ones. He ate one of those big ones that they sell for christmas. Nothing happened to him, but to be safe at least call the vet and ask. If it was just a little, I wouldn't worry. Just make sure to monitor your dog, and let her have water to flush out her system.

read the label on your chocolate...is it artificial? then the dog will have to go the bathroom alot. usually drinking chocolate is not enough to kill the dog but call your vet and see what they think....only after reading the label on your chocolate...I have had this experience...and the vet told me that if it is artificial chocolate then the dog will be fine as long as you take it to go potty alot. and flush the system with plenty of water whenever the dog wants. Dark chocolate is what vets are affraid of.

If you're really worried about it, call your vet. If you want her to throw it up, give her a capful of hydrogen peroxide. Watch her closely for the next day or so and if she starts acting strangely or stops moving around, get her to the vet.
