The location of these files is C:\Documents and Settings\HP_Administrator\Local Settings\Temp

They take up 1.42 gigs of room which is allot

There are allot of tmp files, xml documents, bitmap images, installers.

Can i delete this stuff?

If you have a newer computer with a large hard drive, I wouldn't worry about it. However, erasing these files wouldn't hurt anything.

the temp folder is where the computer downloads and holds stuff when you open a file off the internet
most of the time you don't need anything in there, so if you want to free up a lot of space, then yeah, you can delete the stuff (don't delete the folder, though)

If your computer is made by HP, those might be system files, so I wouldn't. If not, look for programs on your computer made by HP--if you don't need those programs, uninstall them. Since this is in the C: drive, I'd be weary of deleting them without doing so by uninstalling a program.

Yes. You can delete anything in the temp folder.

Some files in the folder maybe in use and you may not be able to delete them. You can delete them in safe-mode though.

Why don't you run Disk Cleanup and let Windows do its job?
Start
Programs
Accessories
System Tools
run Disk Cleanup, then defrag

you can delete any temp files without messing up your OS.
