Lately my dad hasn't been letting me go ANYWHERE!!
He usually always lets me go to my best friend's house. But for the past 2 weeks, he hasn't let me go out at all! (Unless I'm with an adult.) Oh, and Im 13 by the way. I haven't done anything wrong so I'm not being punished. I don't get it. When I ask my mom, she says "No your dad told me not to let you go out anymore" it's getting soo annoying! whats wrong with him? If i call him to ask him if i can go, he hangs up on me or yells at me. he isnt the kinda person who u can talk to. he's the annoying, stubborn, waayyyyyyyyyyy overprotective, always in a bad mood type of dad. this sux cause today was my friends birthday =[
im so mad! its saturday and i cant go ANYWHERE! people r gunna think i have noo life

Over protectiveness stems from concern and fear for your safety. It may seem as if he is being hard on you but he is probably just trying to keep you safe. Maybe he has seen something on the news that made him realize the world we live in is not very friendly sometimes. Try showing him that you are growing up by doing some responsible things( extra chores, watching out for younger sibling, making responsible decisions) Then talk to him about a little more freedom.

Well i think your dad is only being protective because he cares, now don't get me wrong my dad does it too, but since i'm a 13 yr. old male i don't have that much of a problem but lately a lot of teenaged girls have been getting kidnapped and your dad is just looking out for the family, if you had some older brothers or sisters they would tell you they never had this problem unless they were being grounded only because of it not being such a big problem like now but because of all this your dad is just showing that he don't want you being raped is all ok? just show your dad more respect and have a good relationship with him that's what i had to do and that's what i still do and i'm doing a lot better i think you can do it too.

and don't listen to sheloves.. because she is blowing the whole thing out of proportion you need to look at the whole picture not just the little section of it.

I am sure your Dad has his reasons, It may not be a punishment. He could be looking out for you, he may know something he doesn't want you to know like maybe there is a sexual predator or criminals in the area and he wants to protect you so give him a break and talk to him nicely and if you can't talk to him talk to you mom. Don't get on the defensive listen to what they have to say.

did you get bad grades? or is your room clean???

My dad use to do that to me too...it was weird but he got over it..then it started it again...then the same cycle happened over and over again....

For you I would suck up to my dad alot clean the house...do alot of really good stuff.....

If that doesnt work then maybe most likely he heard about some kids getting kidnapped in the neighborhood or town/city (whereever you live) and wont let you out of the house

Go ask him in a nice way and try to talk about it. He might have seen something or made a mistake.

This behavior is normal for such fathers who love their kids too much. It makes them over protective. The kids therefore have no choice but to patiently obey him..
