It's good that the drug is helping you focus, but you should also be getting help adjusting to the way you feel on Adderall and with using that focus productively. Your "old" methods for studying may not continue to work for you; six months is not a long time in terms of really changing the way you do things.

I don't know how old you are, but you should definitely talk to a counselor at your school as well as to your doctor, and to your parents as well. It's great that you want to bring up your grades, and these can be your best resources for support. Talk to your teachers, too, and ask what it is that's been happening with your work. Are you not completing assignments? Having trouble buckling down to study? Has this year been different in terms of your classes or schedule? Try and identify what you need to work on.

There are lots of places you can go for support. I'm concerned about this feeling of being miserable. That may be partly due to the medicine--it is meant to change the way your brain works and your concentration level, but that can be a strange feeling and, I'm sure, takes some getting used to. If there are other things going on in your life that are difficult for you, having better concentration may be making them come more into focus as well.

Good luck! Please do talk to people who are around you, not just to us anonymous folks out here on the 'net.

My granddaughter was on Adderal. Her grades improved, too, but she was moody and cried all the time (especially in the late evenings), and was mean and spiteful to her siblings. Her doctor changed her to Concerta, and we think we have a new family member. Really remarkable change for the better.

This happened to me as well.

I was misdiagnosed as having adhd, when in actuality it was bi- polar disorder.

Go to your doctor.
