The purpose of the Holy Spirit is to guide our soul back to God after we die. The purpose of Faith is to believe the Grace of God is upon us while we are alive and Satan can not claim us back as his own.
A human is composed of body, soul and spirit. We are born with a spirit attached to your soul. The purpose of Baptism is to remove that spirit and replace it with the Holy Spirit so when we die our soul goes back to Heaven to be with God not back to the pit of Hell (as guided by the spirit we are born with).
What we do while in this world does not really matter in the greater scheme of things and anything good we do will not count toward our salvation but will make a difference in helping other people become saved. The verse in the New Testament about the unforgivable sin...grieving the Holy Spirit... means everything is forgiven but without accepting the Holy Spirit we are still going to Hell even if we spend our life doing nothing but good (which given our corrupt condition is not possible anyway).
Accepting the Holy Spirit is a conscious decision when a person decides he wants to return to God.

Don't try to be intelligent-sounding by using large words that aren't necessary.
It is impossible to come to God without the prompting of the Holy Spirit. It is human nature to rebel against God, not run towards Him.

No, apart from the regeneration of the Holy Spirit, people would never choose to turn from sin and turn to God through faith in the person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Well personally I think it is the Holy Spirit that moves us - I do think that the Holy Spirit tries to prompt all none beleivers then it's up to them to come to the faith.
best wishes

i'm sorry to have to be the one to say this ,but that is about as
stupid of a question as i have ever read in this space..despite the attempt to mask the fallacy of the query by using obscure language, the point of the question is not lost ,and the answer is yes.whether or not one even believes in the concept of the trinity ,to which i don't subscribe,is irrelevant as far as the question of faith is concerned.
furthermore one could just as well come to faith in the f.sm.
with or without the approval of the so called holy ghost.
i am so tired of these condescending insults to my intelligence thinly veiled as they may be,just because i happen to believe in god .you can believe in an eternal universe ,and in a easily disprovable theory such as evolution and that makes you the enlightened one ,but my belief in divine intervention ,to which i am not even specific about who the divinity is some how makes me an idiot to whom you talk down to as if i were your child, all i can say is you have a lot of nerve. it is awfully easy to argue from the standpoint of disbelief thereby leaving your opponent in the position of having to disprove a negative ,what is the point of your evangelical mission to sway those who believe in that which you insist isn't real?

the apostles had faith, and didn't receive the Holy Spirit until after the resurrection, correct?
but then again, interacting with Jesus might've played a part

It's human nature to rebel against god?
Maybe because the idea doesn't make SENSE?
We're all born atheist.
