You worked your body too hard, you didn't drink enough water or didn't eat enough that day, or, in some cases, you didn't have the Resistance high enough. I did a spinning class the other day, and my legs felt weak and shaky afterwards, and my instructor said it was because the Resistance was too low.

Not sure about the physiological answer, but that's what I always assumed.
