I want to purchase one of the consoles for the entire family. So of course Dad wants to get in some Madden or sports game for that matter. As far as the children ages 6 and 10, I'm sure a little bit of everything to play. What is the best that you all think. I thank you for your help and time. Happy Holidays to all of you!

It's a pretty easy answer... Wii!!!!!!

Madden is available for the Wii, and the kids will love the Wii over any other system out there!!!

Well... you've obviously got some SONY Fanboys on here!!! What they WON'T tell you is that Sony has sold less than half the system numbers that Microsoft has sold Xbox 360's and Nintendo has sold Wii's!!!

What that means is... all those "third-party" game developers out there will be concentrating their efforts on the 360 and the Wii because of the higher chance at selling more games!!!

THAT FACT is not going to change anytime soon, either... Just look at the stores to see how the Wii is completely sold out everywhere but you will see PS3's on the shelves EVERYWHERE!!! After this Holiday Season I would be willing to bet that the Wii has outsold the PS3 by more than 3 to 1!!!!

That means more games, games, games!!! And that's what it's really all about, isn't it???

Saying the PS3 has the best mix of games IS JUST A DOWN AND OUT LIE!!!!!! I'm surprised someone would even try and make someone believe that that is true!!!

I'm not the only one saying this... if you've ever watched shows like "X-Play" or "Attack of the Show" on the G4 tech/tv cable channel they all say that the PS3 is not the system to get right now!!! They think that maybe next year the PS3 might have a better line-up of games, but they ALL AGREE that Sony has a long way to go to catch up to Microsoft and Nintendo right now!!! It has been said that the PS3 is tough to program for... so even the same game like "MADDEN" for instance, that comes out for both the 360 and the PS3, will play much better on the 360 simply because of the easier programming!! These are all things to consider right now!!!

If the whole family is going to play together, then go with the Wii, but the dad might not be satisfied with the sports games on the Wii. More often than not, the Wii version of a game has less content than the PS3 and 360 version. The Wii is also more family oriented than the PS3 and 360. There are a lot of Wii games with E to T ratings, while there are few E to T games for the PS3 and 360. One advice: Do your homework on a Wii game that you want to buy or else you might regret buying the game. There are a lot of 3rd party companies that's stealing Nintendo's ideas for games, so just because the game looks similar to a Nintendo game doesn't mean that it's as good as the original.

The PS3 is probably good for the dad, but probably not for the kids, but there are some good E to T rated games for the kids. Games like Ratchet & Clank is a lot of fun because of the wackiness of the weapons. LittleBigPlanet is coming out next year, and that seems like it might be a lot of fun for everyone. You design a level and little characters use whatever they have to clear the level. You can upload your level to the PSN and people can download it and try it out. If they like it, you get points, which allows you to do more things.

The 360 only has the Viva Pinata series for kids, and the game isn't that great. It's okay to good, but not great. Madden 08 on the 360 is better than Madden 08 on the PS3. It runs at 60 frames per second, while the PS3 version runs at 30 frames per second.

The PS3 has the best mix of games. You'll get Madden and all the other sports games that dad wants. Also there's a good variety of games and the kids will love Ratchet and Clank. If you get a backwards compatible PS3 then you already have a wide selection of games (the number is in the thousands). The PS3 has regular games and ones that you can use the motion controls in like Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and Lair.

Also with the PS3 you get a DVD and Blu-ray player, the internet gaming is free. The Wii doesn't play DVDs and there aren't many online games. Xbox Live is £40/$50 a year and you have to buy add-ons like a remote to play DVDs and a HD-DVD drive. And if you use folding@home you can help in the research to cure diseases.
