It was my girlfriend's 19th birthday yesterday and I had promised to spend the day with her.

I woke up late and didn't get to her house till 3:00. I got her a rose and a stuffed beanie baby for her birthday and our 3 year.

She gave me a card with $15.00 in it and I got my ear pierced so some earrings for her 3 year gift to me.

I went out to dinner with her and her family and I left right after to pick my guy friend up who i invited with us to go out. She met me there. I promised to spend time with her after we went out. But...i had to drive my friend home and i was tired

So instead i agreed to take her out for lunch. Well...my mom has me helping her do stuff around the house so i can't take her out for lunch.

She's having a "dinner birthday party" with some friends and she asked me to take off months in advance. I did but forgot tonight was poker night. So...i agreed to come over go out to dinner with her and her friend's (she's paying) and then leave to play poker.

Very simple answer.

You keep TELLING her you're gonna put her first, yet in every example here, you haven't. Sounds like she's been very patient with you -- and you keep taking advantage of it.

Lets see if I got this right: you promised to spend the day with her -- but then don't show up until 3:00. You go out to dinner with her family then bail to pick up a friend. Promise to spend time with her later, but can't 'cause your tired after dropping your friend off?

If you are gonna promise to spend the day with her, do it. Every situation you've posted is an example of you NOT living up to your promise.

If you promise to spend the day with her - show up before 3PM, and next time tell your friend to find someone else to hang out with, so that you don't have to run your friend around. If you promised to go to her dinner party -- drop poker for ONE night.

Bottom line - it's obvious you don't live up to what you say you'll do. Consider yourself fortunate she's put up with this stuff for as long as she has. Or you could do her a favor and end the relationship and let her find someone that respects her and is willing to live up to what they say they'll do.

Sometimes you need to drop things for the one you love. You showed up to her house late. You went home with your friend because you were tired and you are ditching her for lunch and then to go play poker. Your behavior is selfish and you have left out your girlfriend on her birthday. Shame on you!

Could you be any more inconsiderate?

You're totally putting her on the back burner for these other things you "have to do". You need to make her a priority by now if you've been together 3 years!

You're lucky she's still with you.

are you freaking kidding me? i can't belive you are even asking this question.... you are so inconserdite. you have promised her like 3 things and have not done one of the things that you have promised to do. do not ever promise to do something enless you know in fact that you are going to be able to fulfeel that promise, i mean come on it sounds like to me you are trying to avoid her for some reason.....

Don't make promises you don't intend on keeping. My BF did that to me, and it gaave me that feeling that i can never depend on him, let alone trust him.

if u knkow u cant do it, dont give her hope saying that u will. it hurts.
