There are several possible causes. Is you engine coolant level full? Low coolant will cause you not to have heat.
The heater control valve could be bad or the vacuum line to could be leaking.
The heater core could be stopped up and not allowing coolant to flow through
Start by checking the radiator level, and when the truck is warmed up, feel both heater hoses. If one is cold, there is no flow through the heater. Check for vacuum at the heater control valve, and check to see if the valve moves when you change the heat setting.
If that does not solve the problem, unhook the heater core hoses and try flushing the core with garden hose!

If the engine is reaching normal operating temperature and you have no heat, your problem is most likely the heater core. If the engine temperature is below normal, then the thermostat is stuck open and not allowing the coolant to reach it's optimum temperature. A good way to check the thermostat is when the engine is cold. Start your truck, and squeeze the upper radiator hose...if you feel coolant surging through the hose...the thermostat is in the open position(bad thermostat). If it takes a while before you feel coolant running through the upper hose then the thermostat is operating correctly. Usually if the heater core goes bad, you'll notice an odd smell inside the vehicle and maybe some leakage onto the floor board. Check to see if the hot/cold flap is opening and closing when you move the heater control levers. Those cables and vacuum hoses can work loose.

If your temperature gage is showing that the engine is warming up:
Look for a couple of water hoses that run from the area around the water pump (fan) to the rear of the engine compartment (fire wall). These hoses carry hot coolant from your engine to the heater under the dash. They will have a valve assembly connected into them - near the back of the engine compartment. There is a good chance that this valve assembly is stuck or otherwise not operating. Sometimes you can move the valve with your fingers and tie it with some wire . Sometimes a cable operates this valve and has come loose.
.
If the engine temp gage stays showing cold:
Replace the thermostat.
.
Good luck

there's a recall and the dealer will supply a kit that should fix your problem. What happens is that the wiring over heats and melts a plactic connection on the heater. you should be able to see it behind you glove box.

take a piece of cardboard and cover half of your radiator top or bottom on the front of it. if you get heat then you need a new thermastat. remerber just half, not all of radiator.
