Technically none. But it does not hurt to know your basics and build on that. It is more important to be a good business person to make it in this field.

You can take classes at your community college, assist a photographer for some years, get a 2 year or 4 year degree.

Colleges and universities offer tons of diplomas and degrees which will qualify you for a paying job in photography.

Depending on your educational level you could graduate in a little as one year.

Some colleges offer general courses which give you skills in a variety of professional settings (fashion, product, wedding, portrait).

Others offer more specialized courses, such as photojournalism. There's even one that offers a course oriented towards "photoessaying" -- the kind of stuff Nat Geo does.

Google the schools near you and I'll bet you'll find a program that'll get you on your way.
