First - you do not join a branch of the arms forces and expect to be placed in any of the special forces! You have no idea how much work it takes to belong to those types of units. Marine Recon is 52 weeks of training after your basic boot 13 weeks, then after your general infantry training of 60 days. All the others are just as hard. The very commitment is something most people have no idea about. As far as pay......stay home son.....you ask that question then you don't belong.

First off if you're asking you have no idea what you are getting into. Second if you're doing it to be "cool" stay home in your parents basement apartment, it's not for you. Also if you're looking to make tons of money, again not gonna happen. Finally if you aren't totally pissed off and stopped reading, your best bet is research on your own college boy. Try military.com they have lots of info on all forces or just do a search for : US ARMY RANGERS, US NAVY SEALs, US ARMY SPECIAL FORCES(my choice by the way) US MARINE RECON. There are others like the 160th SOAR and US AIR FORCE PARARESCUE that work with those above but are usually forgotten about. For a taste of how important these less known groups are to the more famous RANGERS and SEALs read or look up "Roberts Ridge" ( a great book) or OPERATION ANACONDA: TAKUR GAR. it has to do with a seal team, a ranger QRF pj's cct's and night stalkers. If you are a tool stay home , if you are serious best of luck....HOOAH

Just being honest. The way you asked that question means that you should pursue other avenues within the military.
Education and thinking is super key. So with the spelling/txt speak I would suppose knowing history and cultures is out. Who pays the most shows no research at all. Coolest? No research again as it is not about cool.

Two of the worst reasons imaginable for joining the military.
If you decide you really want to serve your country, see your ROTC recruiter on campus, by joining you will get training that will help you decide if Special Forces is a good fit. Depending on your temperment and skills, you might make a better analyst than combat troop.
Based on your question, you might not be ready for the commitment required by the military.

I am guessing you are not from the UK, or the USA with the way you phrase your question.
well there are no "army's government special forces."
Individual countries military have Special Force Units.
If you are not from the U.K., U.S.A., etc..etc.. you cant join those countries S.F.
In general you don't join S.F. units, you join the Army and after basic training you get selected to try out for S.F. if you fail the tests they R.T.U. you back to your original unit.

erm... Special forces aren't "cool" in the Hollywood meaning... they do a tough job and the couple of biker mates I know don't talk about it much, apart from the odd tale ...
(like, "Me and the lads, we were overlooking this Iraqi airfield and this ****ing *****head of a Tornado pilot came in on the wrong vector, at zero feet with full afterburners, right over our ****ing OP...")
I have nothing but respect for them, they are hard as nails, quiet , still and relaxed but sometimes have a look in their eyes saying "Don't take the **** with me".
As I understand it SBS and SAS are not recruited directly, you have to show you are the right stuff in the regular army, preferably the Paras or Royal Marines... Judging by my mates you have to be patient, intelligent, decisive and physically tough, and not mind crapping into a plastic bag for a week cos you can't leave the OP in case of discovery... That's Cool by my definition!

first off you shouldnt join something like that for the pay or if its cool. that type of military job takes hard work and dedication. it also takes starting from the bottom and working your way up. your best bet is to go and talk to the recruiters for each branch and tell them what your goal is. its a long hard process so get started soon! do your research.

They all pay the same...The only difference in pay is when you're actually deployed, and when you make rank.Like amanda said, you shouldn't do it for the pay, if that's what's driving your motivation, you'll be sadly disappointed, and if you're doing it because it's cool,I think you're in for a big suprise, the training alone is going to kick your a$$.
