Your not supposed to use water at all, you put toothpaste on a dry brush then brush for 2 minutes do not rinse your mouth just spit and the toothpaste that stays on your teeth helps to protect them for longer. At least that's what the health visitor told me when she came to give my children a lesson on teeth brushing.

I hold my toothbrush under the hot tap for a few seconds to soften the bristles... then brush lightly for a minute or so. Then I run it under the cold tap and do the same.

I don't think either of them are "better" - it's just a matter of personal preference.

However, if you have sensitive gums, I presume it would be better to use warm water. I could be wrong though.

Strictly speaking it's cold water, it's something to do with there being more fluoride in cold water and it's filtered more.

I use hot water because the cold water tank in my house isn't insulated and so especially in the winter the water coming out of the cold tap is BLOODY FREEZING. I have sensitive teeth as well so cold water is very painful sometimes.

I guess you could use any water really, I used bottled mineral water when abroad because I was paranoid about tap water in another country.

You should always brush teeth with cold DRINKING water otherwise you risk the enamel on your teeth expanding and cracking. Ask any dentist and they'll tell you the same. Neither should you eat something cold like ice cream, then follow with a hot drink and vice versa.

I would say warm as cold water shocks the nerves in the teeth.

I'd say cold because it makes your breath more minty. I love the feeling of getting cold water in my mouth and then my breath just feels like on heaven.

Warm water can slowly start effecting your inner parts of your body as well so either use cold water or moderate temperature water

I don't know if one is better then the other, but I have to use hot water, because the cold water hurts my teeth. I know it sounds silly and I do use the syncidine toothe paste, but it don't help. But I agree, cold water makes your mouth feel more refreashed

I use warm water because when cold water hits my teeth, it doesn't feel good.

I brush with hot just because I think it kills germs in your mouth faster than would cold or warm water.

But I rinse with cold.

Hmm... well i use cold water because cold water gets filtered more in the system than warm.

I suppose if your toothbrush bristles are hard then it is good to soften them though... or just buy a good toothrush ;)
