Since i didnt have much credit my mom had to be the primary on my bank loan. I became the co signer. But i checked my report and after 6 months of paying its still not on my report. Do bank loans only show up after they are paid off? Or should this already be on there?

Your mother was the signor on the loan so the bank would report the loan against your mother's credit report not yours. Why aren't you the signor & your mother the co-signor?

If you need to increase your credit score & your mother did not need to increase her score, you needed to be the signor & mom the co-signor.

Banks or anyone else are not required to report any of your credit history to the credit bureaus. Ask the bank if they reported the loan to the credit bureau and if so, which one or all three. If they don't ask them if they would. At the very minimum you can ask them for a payment history letter and submit it yourself to all there bureaus. Typically, new loans will show up within the following 30 to 60 days depending upon when the bank reports the new loan.

Since you could not get the loan, and your mother is the primary, it is not your loan, it's your mom's loan. You are on the loan, and if your mom doesn't pay on time, it will be your problem. The loan won't help you establish credit. That is why it's not showing up on your credit report. Not your loan period.

If you want to establish credit, it's going to be a long process.

Did you co-sign or co-make?

As a co-signer, you are just a guarantee against default. A co-maker is on the loan.
