There are so many reserves of any branch that are being deployed all over the world. Just go all out or join the Army!

I am a retired Air Force Officer. On this question J and I are in complete agreement. If you are joining the Air Force to run away and hide from life in general, you are doing the wrong thing. Do not think that being in the Air Force is just a cushy job with no chance of going to a war zone or fighting for your life or the life of others. I you are scared of being sent overseas the military, any branch, is not the career path for you. I know that by the 32 words you wrote in your question I would not want you in my squadron. Before you make any leap to the Air Force you need to grow up first and become a man.

The United States Air Force isn't going to let you activate from the reserves.

Also, there's nothing wrong with being afraid to go overseas, but that being the case, stay out of the military. For my sake.

Chances are you could still be sent overseas while in your reserve unit. But even two years from now...there's no telling by the way things are going. If your main concern is not getting deployed I guess your best bet would be to play it safe and not join at all.

It all depends on the needs of the Air Force as to where you will go or not go.
