Read a book or magazine.

Listen to music on an iPod or other music player (get a good set of noise-isolating or cancelling earphones to block out plane noise)

Watch a DVD on a laptop.

Eat snacks (Bring your own. They don't give you much food on a 5-hour plane trip)

Sleep. Try to get adjusted to the new time zone, so sleep if it's nighttime in the new time zone, and stay awake if it's daytime.

Where and when are you going? I'll be on a 5 1/2 hour plane ride in 12 days myself. I'd be happy to talk to someone to pass the time, since as for me sleeping is out of the question. Other ideas are to read a book, bring along crossword puzzles or word games, watch a movie if there is one, bring a travel journal and write all about your experience.

Do something that would keep u busy such as playing online computer games on ur laptop, chat rooms if ur old enough for that, listen to music, read a book, read a magazine, bring some playing cards- watch a movie if u have a portable dvd or watch the screen they have available on the plane, have a convo with the ppl ur traveling with or strike up a convo with a stranger if u feel comfortable doing that, bring along a puzzle book, sleep, eat some food/junk food, polish ur finger nails, put on some makeup, brush ur hair....

All of the above are good things to do on a flight, but did you know that looking after your health and comfort while flying makes the trip much more enjoyable, and keeps you happier than the couch potatoes around you.

Qantas Airlines offers a lot of good stretching exercises and other heath tips, check this out:

Read. Can you bring laptops on a plane still? If so, write.
