For the same reason that most people have more than the average number of legs, arms, hands etc. If one of four people has a foot missing, the average number of feet between them is one and three quarters, so three people have more than the average! Good one, have a star.

If any member of a population has less than 2 feet, it brings the average number of feet down to something less than 2. Therefore, 2 feet is above average.

cos you only need one person in the world to have one foot and the average(mean) goes below two. the next person you meet will almost certainly have more than the average number of feet and hands.

Becasue some ppl have 1 or no legs, but no one has 3 legs, so therefore the average number of legs is below 2!! just like eyes, arms, hands, feet, ears, and...other places...
